That's basic chazaka; that if it was established to be kosher before and now you see it isn't, we assume that the status quo remained until determined otherwise.
thats chazaka dehashta
there is the competing chazaka kamaysa that it was ruined right after it was last checked

Every shochet checks his knives before he starts so why do they throw out the whole batch if they find after 50 or so chickens a psul with the knife? Obviously they don't rely that if 3 are good its all good

Disagree. Modern Orthodoxy will cease to exist through attrition. Few of this generation are staying the MO course - most either become more yeshivish and join right wing communities (one half of passaic falls into this category) or go in the opposite direction and start letting go of their heritage (many examples in this category but I neither wish nor need to name names)
Uhm what about the very large communities like Teaneck and the menu in Israel

Excellent point:

Indeed
And the major reason why your attempts to lump the modern Orthodox with the open orthodox are completely misguided (even if you were correct about the facts)

I am not lumping together cv. I am of the opinion the OO is a direct result of the concept of modernizing yiddishkeit.

Modern Orthodoxy by its very definition is on a slippery slope IMHO. This is why I believe it is appropriate to discuss MO here. Modern orthodoxy is not a static organization, they are a few steps behind OO. Unless someone takes a real stand..

The difference between the RCA's timid reactions to OO and the moetzes's illustrates this point.

IMHO I think everyone thinks they are plain old orthodox. Not yeshivish, ultra, or modern. But who's to judge? I'm sure there are plenty of what you would consider Modox people who are better off in heaven then some people you would consider ultra orthodox, namely people who are who they are because of peer pressure (oh and you'd be surprised how many of those there are!). I can conjure are list of people I know that follow every letter of the law and are serving God because they love him so much and you would consider them Modox, and I can list people who just walk around like sheep, blindly following everyone else and you would consider them orthodox. But I'm not to judge, k'ish echad b'lev echad, everyone has thier way and you love them all. So lets keep this topic to people who blatantly disregarded Torah ways

Only the chickens that were slaughtered after the last time that the knife was checked. Unless you have a double sofek ( sfek sfike ) then its a different story.

FYI These days there is a very small percentage of knife that get Posul with chickens.

Lol
I was actually being serious. I figured I met 50 or so DDF members at private and public DO's. I was going to rate them on a scale of 1-10 and I bet I would have been pretty close. That would be the mother of all PC threads. For the record I have not met a 1 or 10 IMHO.
