Wow I want to see that thread
Since it would include four maybe five mods that thread would get me banned.  :)

I was actually being serious. I figured I met 50 or so DDF members at private and public DO's. I was going to rate them on a scale of 1-10 and I bet I would have been pretty close. That would be the mother of all PC threads. For the record I have not met a 1 or 10 IMHO.
Incorrect. Did you not learn how to get poll statistics in school? You cant just use 50 people who all have the same thing in common (ddf), and you cannot tell where someone is on the spectrum by eating out with them once. And obviously you didnt meet a 1 or 10, because a 1 would be a self hating jew that would not hang out on these forums, and a 10 wouldnt use internet.
I'm not who you think I am.

How would you rate yourself on that scale?

IMHO I think everyone thinks they are plain old orthodox.

What about Orthoprax?  Those would don't know if the torah and mitzvos are from God but keep them anyway for traditional or social reasons.  I probably fit closest to that myself, rather than Modern Orthodox.

Not sure if serious. Although I think CM is the closest to a 10 that I've ever met. If he'd stop using the cursed internet he'd be a full-fledged 10.

Orthoprax poses no threat to Orthodoxy. You're afraid to be seen not conforming for goodness sake.

1) Did you learn reading comprehension 101 in school?
2) I sure can use 50 from the group and rate them according to the group.
3) I can read people by meeting them once and am alive today because of it.
4) You have no idea what a 1 or 10 would be on my scale.
5) Now it is my turn. Go away troll.  :P

That's an easy one.

That's an easy one.

Of course. Everyone is exactly in the middle. (Yes, I'm aware 5 isn't in the middle  mathematically.)
To the right of me are the fanatics, to the left of me the heretics, and upon my head the glory of G-d.

I'm not sure how much of a threat it is. There is a large population of people that play the game but don't believe in the rules. That's not sustainable generation over generation. But a certain amount of churn is assumed I suppose.

Zero threat. It's similar to leaving the fold (in some ways better than, but in some ways worse) which is certainly a loss but definitely not an attack.

I don't think I underestimate the phenomenon.

Unless you think Prax includes 100% of frum people, I don't see how it matters. Probably over 90% of Jews in the world are completely secular and pose no threat to the continuation of jewry through the remaining 10%. If that 10% is actually only 1% it's still true. Without getting into potentially disparaging analysis of the people who live a prax lifestyle, they are even less of a threat to the continuation of jewry than the openly secular Jews. Very very different from OO whose goal is to redefine frum as themselves.
