3) No more than one roll call every thirty minutes.
4) You have 30 minutes to respond to the roll call to stay active.
5) To respond to a roll call just post a reply with "Here" or "y y y"

And may she find the wind in her sails undiminished.

Dear friends,

I am writing to tell you about a matter that is essentially personal but will result in some changes at work, shul and family gatherings. You may have noticed some changes in my appearance over the last several months, and it is now time to explain what is going on.

I am transgender. I have had transgender feelings since I was 6 or 7, but I kept those feelings hidden and did my best to make my life work with my male body. Alas, my discomfort only increased, and 3 years ago I entered psychotherapy to explore my options.

I was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder, the treatment for which includes psychotherapy, hormonal treatments and/or various surgeries. Accordingly, I have been working with my therapist and doctors, following the Standards of Care that set out treatment guidelines for this condition.

Outside of public, I have been living as a woman for the past 16 months. I have had my name legally changed to Meshugenah. My drivers license shows me as female.

My very close friends have been very supportive in making arrangements to change my name and gender. I’m very pleased to be able to take this step toward personal wholeness while maintaining the friendship of you all that I have found so rewarding.

This change will not affect my ability to be a contributive member of this forum. In fact, I may be less distracted when I no longer have two personas to juggle. Also, as I enjoy being myself more, you may find me more enjoyable to be around.

Some of you may not understand the life changes I’m undertaking. I would be happy to answer your questions or direct you to additional information. Some of you may not approve of what I’m doing; that is your right. However, I expect that everyone will treat me with basic human respect.

Beginning on December 27, I ask that you call me by my new name and use female pronouns (she, her, etc.) when referring to me. I know this will take a little time to get used to, and I expect that you’ll make mistakes at first. All I ask is that you try to get it right.

Respectfully,

Meshugenah
(formerly Meshugener)
Hi my fellow DDFers,

As I transition into the next phase of
my life, I want everyone to know the
real me. I am Puppy Meshugener. I am a
dog. Given the way that I feel, and
have felt since childhood, I want to
begin hormone therapy as soon as
possible. I hope that you will support
me in this transition. I also request
that, starting today, you refer to me by
my new name and use the animal
pronoun (except in official mail to my home address). I look forward to
 receiving letters from supporters and
having the opportunity to write back.

Puppy

Nah, he quotes the R Moshe!

(And the benay bonim which doesn't work for me)
So that will count as not being attributed..... I am sure he wrote it having in mind that it should meet the qualifications of an anonymous DDF poster in 2015....

I wrote that I remember it quoted but unattributed to a written source to which you replied that you didn't like the source he brought. I replied that you can then count it as unattributed and that he wasn't looking to meet the standards of an anonymous poster on a forum this many years later anyhow.

Sorry i misread your first post.

I said that I expected that if there was a real source R Shachter should have mentioned it. Thought you were saying that he does bring it from a source.

Bottom line we agree that as of now all it we have is a vague shmuah. This meets your standards?

"We have a vague shmua", as if you're the judge and jury?
Also, have you asked Rav Yaakov's talmidim? That's how mesorah in psak works. No one is mechuyav to fill you in

Yes, people on this forum have reported/linked to nothing more than vague shmuas. - Have you asked R Yakovs talmidim? If yes feel free to post that!

Im not a judge or anything. Its just that R Moshe actually addresses this "rumor" - that this is the minhag in Lita, and says that it is not true. IMHO it is reasonable to assume that the vague shmuah that I have heard, and which is mentioned in R Shachters publication, is indeed the same one that R Moshe is dismissing as a mistake.  Unless you can please point me to a more reliable source.

Besides that the actually sevorah of this heter is also pretty vague to me and takes some "pretzeling" to explain. - Also just mho.

So to summarize, I dont know whether it is true or not; but for now all I know is that R moshe says that it is unreliable.

I heard today from a very reputable source that the reason why R Moshe wrote so much about staining is thanks to Dr. Tendler. He kept on selling him crap about staining. In fact, back in those days they used to give the higher dose's which is even more effective to prevent staining.

So much for Dr Tendler... The same guy who WORRIES about our kids health when doing Metzitzeh B'peh.  Meshugeneh, wanna start a thread? ;)

You guys are all sooooo supportive I must say.

Where is your ahavas yisrael?

Can I expect to get even one DDfer to publicly encourage me and my decisions?

All I've been getting is a bunch of PMs and whatsapp messages saying how proud I should be and that they admire my courage to come out in public (including from several DDFers you'd be shocked to learn that they support me), but no one has the small dirty courage and say it in public.

What are friends for? To support me only when I make a popular decision??

R' Moshe writes it clearly in his tshuva that he got the info from Rav Tendler.

It is astonishing to me that the very same people who have no problem disqualify his opinions on Har Habayis, Metzitzah B'peh, clinical death etc. all of a sudden rely on him when it comes to encouraging the mass production of babies.

Plug out life support of your clinically dead bubby, make fun of the Palestinians in front of Al-Aqsa and then we'll talk.

Don't be a hypocrite.
