Since they were announced, and particularly now that every company and their mother are announcing models, there's been a lot of hype over the new Snapdragon X chips.
Snapdragon has been put in laptops before. However, I had never considered them seriously as an option because an extra day of battery life is no good if your work also takes an extra day to complete (this is a sardonic exaggeration but you get the idea).
These chips, according to the hype, add even more battery life and are fast (or fast enough, depending on the task). MSRPs are a bit much, but this is a strong indication that the companies themselves believe the hype. I guess we have to wait for the reviewers to get models to test (don't bother reading the one sponsored by Microsoft).
