I was recently listening to the 8th Day song "Don't Forget" on the Brooklyn album (2007). I hadn't noticed it before but i'm pretty sure they were calling out Matisyahu for slipping from his stated mission(when his slide began to be really noticeable) . The lyrics;

It seems they were right on target sadly (although it's debatable if this was their intent and if it was, if they chose an appropriate venue for mussor)

Just to show how authentic this essay is, I know for a that the yeshiva that he Kearny in doesn't have any bedrooms in the basement, they are all above ground, though that yeshiva serves kapporos chicken all year.

And I'm sad that his daughter had to go for heart surgery, I hope she's doing okay.

On the bright side even though he has his daughter out of wedlock he was finally mekayim the mitzvah... It's his first daughter.
