Just curious... but is there anyone who actually eats this hechsher?  Lately everyone I meet tells me they wouldn't touch it.  And on my last trip to Israel this past December I noticed it's everywhere. Almost every Elite product (the ones without a badatz), meat in "frummy" and non-frummy supermarkets, tons of random products everywhere.  Even one of my tasty Ben and Jerry flavors. What's the deal?  Another crazy politics story?

Does anyone here eat OU Israel?

What's wrong with OU Israel? Because 'everyone' tells you it a problem you don't eat it?

If that's the way things work, all the Gedolim said recently that all the english magazines such as mishpacha, binah bunch and yated are assur to read....and they can be bought in frummy stores as well....

What I heard:
There was many problems about a year ago. The Rav that OU US sent to oversee the hashgacha quit in protest, and the OU US threatened to remove their franchise name. Supposedly things are "not as bad" anymore, but no one I've spoken to relies solely on it.

As always YLORMV, you shouldn't be trusting word on the street lekula or lechumra

I can actually give an educated answer on this one, as I know the Rav Hamachshir of OU Israel personally.
He is a Talmid of Rabbi Belsky- The Rosh Yeshiva of Torah Vada'as and the Posek of the OU world wide.
Over 2 years ago they had a few issues , they then hired the current Rav Hamachshir and now it is considered to be an excellent Hechsher and accepted amongst many Charedi & Anglo- Saxon Communities
OU Israel has Haskamas from very chashuv rabbanim. For any specific questions feel free to pm me and I will forward them on.

I think at one point it was like that. Now a days I see many products that are Cholov Nochri - most of them aren't made in Israel but I believe I've seen some that are. Is that true? I know the OU Israel won't give a hechsher on something there unless it's Cholov Yisroel and Pas Yisroel unlike OU in America.

In response to the above, OU in the USA gives a Hechsher on Chalav Stam.
OU Israel does not
Products that are imported from the US and sold in Israel could be Chalav Nochri.
