Rabbi Berkovits has stopped saying tehillim betzibbur, at least over Pesach, including not on Chol Hamoed. First missed day since Shemini Atzeres itself.

Secondhand, he said it isn't kovod YT. Which isn't really an answer unless you assume that the danger has died down somewhat. I assume we will resume after Pesach.

As we sung "Echad Mi Yodeha" I couldn't help but notice that 7/10 (or 10/7) both include Shabbos.

7 days of the week and Aseres HaDibros.

Both of with protected those who kept it and did not protect those who did not keep it.

Just a thought.

Precisely why second-hand reports are unreliable.

Without knowing for certain, I'd venture that he said that public Tehillim recital is not consonant with שמחת יו"ט which is a position that is very consistent with Halachah. To the unlettered, that can easily be rendered into "it's not kavod yom tov" and Rabbi Berkovics is made to look foolish.

Fascinating write up of Rav Hunters approach to Simcha on yom tov of the year of the Yom Kippur war where he references both litvish as well as chassidish reasons to not lessen the שמחה. He had an interesting reason for withholding saying Tehillim at points as well, and he quotes a fascinating Targum Yonason on the possuk we lain on simchas torah שמח זבולן בצאתך that addresses the issue.

I don't know anyone who claimed "No one" was injured, but the facts are the all of the yishuvim who were שומר שבת were miraculously unharmed. Same for those who kept שמיטה. If you wish to deny that or that it has any significance, you're free to do so, but I'll take it for what it is. The idea that שבת protects the Jewish people is not a newfangled Charedi idea. אם אשמרה שבת א-ל ישמרני was written by Ibn Ezra about 1,000 years ago.

We also know that HKBH conveys messages to us through current events. All are free to interpret the messages to suit their tastes, but I'll go with the פשוט פשט and quite comfortably accept the fact that שמירת שבת does, in fact, protect us.

Everything is possible, but I don't read peoples minds or heart. All I see is their words and when someone writes, "I've had it with this attitude from the charedi olam," I think I can pretty much figure out what he means. But maybe not

Ya. As you can see, I read, but virtually never post. Not my thing. For some reason, a few posts today made me rethink that position (and it's Chol HaMoed so I can actually think which for me is a rare opportunity.) But I have no idea what I'm doing so it took about three edits to get that post right.
