Four days ago, Yitzhak Buzaglo received the tragic news that his son, Amit, a 19-year-old soldier, was killed in combat. Yesterday, the grieving father spoke on Channel 11, expressing clear disdain for media outlets focusing on societal divisions. He urged the public to turn off their screens and not watch those causing discord.
In a radio interview with Galei Tzahal today, Yitzhak Buzaglo defiantly stated, "We, the people, will defeat you, the media; we will shut down the television." The interviewer abruptly cut him off in response, claiming, "I can't handle this."
It's worth noting that Buzaglo expressed similar sentiments in a previous program, leading to an invitation to Galei Tzahal. However, the presenter chose to dismiss him from the broadcast disrespectfully. The interviewer's appalling behavior raises questions about whether this was intentional, perhaps to show that they won't let him freely discuss his pain.
Zvi Sukkot, a member of the religious Zionist party, also faced the interviewer's disgraceful conduct when approached by the grieving father. Outraged by the humiliation, Sukkot wrote to Galei Tzahal's public relations, highlighting the inappropriate removal of Buzaglo from the broadcast.
This severe misconduct, especially towards a father who recently lost his son, is unacceptable on any media platform, and it's even more egregious on the radio station of the Israel Defense Forces. It raises concerns about the station's role and values. Urgent clarification and appropriate action are needed.
Additionally, Minister for the Advancement of Women, May Golan, commented on the disgraceful event, expressing disbelief at the silencing of Yitzhak Buzaglo, a father mourning his hero son, Amit Buzaglo, who sacrificed his life in the Gaza operation.
The incident reflects the intensity of the Israeli public's reaction to media behavior during times of war and calls for a swift resolution.
