Review here: https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE4MjY2ODI4NjcxMjAyODgw

I can try and answer any questions here as well.

Might need the app for link to work.

Otherwise it is saved to our Highlights on our profile.

Great review!

Do you feel the ship move? Especially when it's bad weather?

Thanks!

It was more of a gentle rocking than anything else. I grew to really like it. Falling asleep to the gentle rocking of the ship, was actually really nice!

Any way for a person without access to Instagram to see this info?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

It seems to load the highlights in reverse order, so you need to click through to the end and then watch in reverse. But there are other sites that do the same, this was just the first Google result.

Lots of kosher observant passengers eating French toast waffles and pancakes from the non kosher venue? Aside from bishul akum concerns there are serious tarfus issues with keilim. As a baseline the kosher breakfast buffet should try to provide equivalent alternatives so guests are not moving over to the treif breakfast stations.

I know it’s just a start, but I’m kind of conflicted. On the one hand without kosher supervision many of these folks might have gone on the non kosher cruise and consumed many more non kosher items so the hashgacha is doing a service. On the other hand it involves so many potential issues for those who only join because it’s kosher supervised. A kosher pizza oven right next to a treif one behind the same counter. A sushi station with some rolls ok to eat and others treif gomur with no signage. There’s a lot that needs to be done to bring things up to standard.

The mainstream hashgacha organizations will not certify cruises, as far as I understand mostly because they’ve found it impossible to effectively implement acceptable kashrus standards . I’m sure @moko would know a lot more about this than me. Perhaps with RC backing there would be latitude to create a kosher supervision that is up to acceptable standards for the mainstream orgs.

Hard to believe RC would back something like that (to the extent that would satisfy major Kashrus agencies) as it requires too many concessions on their part. There isn’t enough of a market for an entirely Kosher cruise (on RC’s scale) and a lot of the Kosher market will settle for their current Kosher options (including the standards in this offering) that it isn’t worth it for them to go the full mile.

Is there a pesach program that has backing of a mainstream org? Rabbi Webberman seems very knowledgeable and has lots of safeguards and steps put into place; if someone is actually interested and is held back by Kashrus, he's the person to talk to.

As someone who keeps cholov yisroel and pas yisroel...I felt this was very similar to eating at a kosher hotel in Israel where you have to talk to the mashgiach about specific dishes meals etc. Every milchig meal we had to find out about specific items dishes etc etc and determine if we could eat it to not. And then that's just up to each person.

IMO, if you don't have Instagram for hashkafa/halacha reasons, you probably also wouldn't go on a cruise for hashkafa/halacha reasons.

I figured some of the guests were lacking those items by the kosher buffet so they decided to move over to the other one. Maybe it was just folks who didn’t have any issue eating at non kosher buffet either way so long as they assumed the ingredients to be kosher?

I heard from some guests who were NOT part of the fresh kosher program that they ate cholov stam food at the regular buffet.

I don't know their religious level at all or the standards of the treif buffet.
