Was anyone else on one of the cancelled US Airways PHL-TLV flights during the week of 2/9 and received compensation?
I originated in CVG, connecting in PHL, scheduled to fly 2/9 overnight to TLV. PHL-TLV was delayed about an hour before boarding due to crew, then once on the plane delayed 5 hours at the gate due to "de-icing" (which can't be true because we were at the gate the whole time with the door open), then mechanical issues, then someone got sick and had to be taken off. Finally at 3:30 AM they cancelled the flight and had us all get off. Since it was due to "weather" there was no overnight accommodation or anything like that. Waited with a bunch of people to rebook at the ticket counter once it opened, since on the phone they could only rebook on another US Air flight and those only run once a day.
Managed to get rebooked PHL-EWR in the morning then EWR-TLV on LY at 1:15 PM. Flight to EWR was delayed, LY agents were waiting to get me on the flight but since US hadn't given me a boarding pass (they said I needed to check in with LY in EWR), and it was too late for LY to give me a BP, I couldn't go through security. US then re-rebooked me on the 4:20 PM EWR-TLV on UA.
They e-mailed me the next day with a $200 e-voucher. That seems a bit low given the amount of time I had to spend in PHL airport, talking to agents, etc. Also the compensation e-mail had the wrong date and destination. Did anyone else get compensation for that trip (US 796 on 2/9) and if so, what was it?
