Why would it being Republic Airways make a difference? when you're on the plane the only indication it is RA is "operated by RA" on the boarding pass. The crew announces themselves as being reps of AA, everything about the flight is AA, and the "contract" the passenger has is with AA, not RA. It is AA who has the responsibility of getting the passengers to the destination, and if the RA crew doesn't do their job, it is AA who is responsible to the passenger.

I was on a flight where the FA made a mistake which city we were flying to. Had the whole plane worried until it was clarified.
I was once on a Southwest flight with a funny FA who announced at landing, "We'd like to welcome you to Bermuda... unfortunately we can't, so welcome to [destination]"
