How does this get around the problem with getting a new candidate on ballots in states which the deadline already passed?

I was looking into this a bit more, and (for some reason) I am shocked at the cynical manipulation that CNN used to exclude RFK from the debate.

They claim it was because he is not on enough state ballots. But the reason he isn't on the ballots is because (in some states) it was too early to submit the petition...

For example, in Wisconsin an independent candidate cannot start collecting signatures until July 1st!

Honestly his current situation isn't that bad, it's about where his decline is heading to remain another four years.

In his defense, the press conference got pushed back till about 7:30. It was very close to (or even past, by the time it was over) his 8:00 bedtime.

Can someone please be devil's advocate for me and argue what the Dems were thinking when choosing Biden as nominee? They obviously knew at least as much as we did about his cognitive decline.
