There's also a September debate. Usually all of the debates are around then.

Agreed, but that disproves the theory that they wanted to get it out of the way early.

My opinion, they couldn't predict if Biden will fail, but they did want to have the chance to turn things around if he does. If he wouldn't fail the 1st they'd be confident he'd make the 2nd as well

If Biden had done well at the first one, and if Trump would have acted the way he did in the first debate in 2020, it would have been easy for them to come up with an excuses to cancel the second one.

It was a private conversation that was recorded, how is that not controlling himself? Either way, it's a non story and he's just saying what everyone is saying.
