My son just landed in JFK on the chartered flight of Eastern Airlines from TLV. His suitcase didn’t arrive… but he was told everything has arrived and someone must have taken it.
Any ideas where to go from here? The suitcase doesn’t have his name just the tag from the airline

That tag should have his name on it.... not that that helps much

Why should he believe that it arrived and someone took it? That's classic to throw people off their backs.

Is this a problem with the charters? As good as they are, there is no recourse for luggage? Would cc cover it? ( I think they may only cover regularly scheduled commercial flights)

If someone took it by mistake, there probably would've been another unclaimed suitcase.
Either someone stole it - good luck getting it back.
Or they are blaming others for their mistake

I wish there was a good equivalent in the android ecosystem or it was compatible. I used tiles this summer and it literally only picked up anything when I was near it. Pretty much close to useless.

There are Android equivalents now, that use googles find my network.
It's not up to par with air tags yet, but it's getting there.

And at JFK
But my experience with a suitcase in lost and found (in CDG, France)was that they told me over the phone it wasn't here, but when we went ourselves, it was.

In the Chareidi world, most people without a smartphone don't know what an airtag is and even if they do, would not use them...

Could be.

On the other hand my friend forgot his Teffilin on a Lalechet plane. He called them up and they located it and sent it with someone to yerushalayim where he picked it up.

B"H I have no experience forgetting things on a plane but I imagine it would have been much harder had it been forgotten on a commercial airline.

ETA: I one time forgot a small bag on the plane. I realized pretty quickly after I got off so I went back to get it. There was no one at the gate or by the jet bridge so I just walked right onto the jet bridge. I got about half way down and I bumped into the FA and Pilots coming off the plane. They asked me where I was going so I told them I had forgotten something and was going back to get it. They told me I better got off right now because it was against the law for me to reenter the jet bridge and I will be arrested and if I don't get off immediately. One of the FA went back and found it for me.

I use tiles, they're not as good as air tags but they're still usable. We use them at work as well to track rental equipment across several states and they're definitely helpful

People still fly without airtags in their suitcases?

My guess is that fewer than .5% of suitcases have airtags (or the equivalent)

from what I understand, they only work if you have a Samsung device.
