United MileagePlus Explorer Guide to Benefits

Matching is not guaranteed anymore YMMV

Personal Card
Public offer in the Bank is 50K+5K                            Sign up for the 30+5K offer. You can get matched to the higher offer by sending a secure message after you are approved to be matched to the 55K + $50 offer that you say your colleague received.

If its your:
First time: After you sign for the 30k + 5k for adding an AU offer, you can SM Chase to match you to the 55k + $50 offer.
2nd+: Sign up with a new Frequent Flyer # (FFN), and SM AFTER receiving the first 30k. Make sure to create the new FFN with United BEFORE submitting the Application to Chase, or they'll default to your previous number, even if you leave the field blank.

Make sure to add an AU to receive the final 5k, for a total of 55k +$50.

Business Card
On the business card, you can get matched to 50k.
Follow the same process as the personal card.
Note: There is no 5k bonus for adding an AU to the biz card, so when you SM, make sure to ask to be matched to the 50k offer, not a 55k offer which doesn't exist for this card.

It could take up to a week to get a response from the Secure Message Center

Here is a link within your United account, which some DDFers have reported to received a 50k offer for the Explorer card, and the annual fee waived for the Club Card.

If u have a UMPE card and NO status, then you can do upgrades from a coach pts booking to bus/1st pts booking for just incremental pt + taxes, no fees. If you don't have the card they said they'd charge the all-dreaded rebooking fee of $100/person (always the chance to get it waived).

Was in the bank yesterday and they told me I'm preapproved for this card. Which is weird b/c I already have one. Wondering if it's worth the credit pull for just 1 card :)

The whole thing is weird because they just denied my Ink Bold app last month, because my credit history is too short for the amount of cards I have. :)

Makes sense to me. They were tough with the Ink's lately. Not so much with the personal cards.

sometimes when card is still open with New MP #, it gives problems to merge, if tried online. best is to call mileage plus service and they make sure, it gets thru.

Sort of concernered have 3 accounts now . Opened 3 rd when merger of first 2 was pending

Interesting... so they let you have more than one copy of a card from them?

I also saw on her screen (shh) the Sapphire Preferred which I have, and the Slate which I don't :).

It's definitely possible to have more than one of a specific card. Not sure about the signup bonus though.

Just curious, if booked a domestic flight with points & paid the taxes with my united card & then canceled the card before taking the flight, will I still get a free bag?
can they see that the card is no longer active?

Go through the personal link and look for "Are you a business owner?" in the upper right corner.

You can probably match to the 50K.

This is my second Explorer card. I forgot to enter my mileageplus # in the application. However, the new ff# I created was assigned to me (I think the old one I got the bonus about 2 years ago had a different address and hence did not match my application). Will I get the bonus as it is a different ff# anyway?

I would think so, although I have no experience with this.

Han anyone ever had a problem merging 2 United accounts? Can it trigger any problems with bonus miles or with Chase?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Once the points post to your account what should be the issue?
