Sweet. Booked it for my parents for next week. Hopefully they get upgraded (and don't have any problems with second guest checking in).

You can check on HHonors.com and it may already show a confirmed upgrade for next week (ours showed it ahead).  Also, if the concierge has reached out to you, I'd respond asking what the best possible Diamond upgrade might be and hopefully they email back what you're confirmed with.

Ok whoops, they're good but not that good...lol.  It's probably not in there if you just made the booking since I think they do the upgrades manually. They emailed us 10 days before arrival so I don't know if you've missed the window or whether they'll contact you.

make shure you are registered for double points i think as diamond you would get 25 points per dollar on anything charged to the room.

Ask for a Grand Deluxe with balcony on the 9th floor. Much nicer then suite for couple as Dan has pointed out and I can attest the same since I was just there. Ask for 909 if avail. Huge balcony and the best view possible. Id agree though that they don't have any amazing views.

Ok. So regular tourist from Canada will check out with $0 on the bill (assuming no parking/incidentals)?

Yeah it seems that for a couple there is a general consensus the deluxe room is nicer.  We appreciated the suite because we were traveling as family and if you are booking two rooms, ours was the ideal set-up, to have the junior suite and 2nd room adjoined by a private hallway that both room keys could access.  We also wanted the lower room over Shabbat and Chag.

Absolutely not!  Points clients must be spending tons more than paying customers, hence the management is only blocking rooms to masochistically spite themselves! 😝😂

Jerusalem.Reservations@WaldorfAstoria.com although you can also have them do it when you check in.  That's what we did and had no problems and the upside since we had all these separate reservations was each one got a separate welcome gift and free drink certs and we brought tons of wine, fruit  and chocolates to our family!

Superior room availability has significantly improved as of today
