That's what I originally suggested about the change--that it was the "bonus.". I am still hoping for a higher bonus though.
Its now 30k bonus

Wishful thinking.

Amex forex rates stink.

What they're removing is the fee tacked on to the transaction. There still is an exchange rate that Amex uses when you make a purchase in another currency. That rate can be different (often worse) from what you'd get changing money in a particular country.

i just applied for my very first Starwood card. congrats to me! i'm officially keeping an eye out for future posts to this thread :)
there is SO much information in the ddms post regarding advantages. i can barely make sense of it all. i just have one question that i'm pretty sure i know the answer to and just want to double check.
i want to reach status (gold and elite are different?). to do that i need to stay 8 nights in a participating hotel OR spend 30k? can i stay 4 nights and spend 15k?? does it not work like that? why do i want status? only for the late check out and wifi? i understand i get the faster wifi just for having the card, right? (only in participating hotels, i know)
My greatest achievement? I am fluent in FRIENDS quotes

No. It's 10 stays or 25 nights OR spend $30k OR get an Amex Plat card.

looks like the biz version is better with lounge access but how hard is it to get approved for biz with amex?
I was hit with FR and voluntarily closed couple of the amex cards i had . that was3 yrs ago.  got got the everyday card wihtout trouble. i have to be careful.

Other than staying at starwood hotels, what else can i get with 30k starwood points?

Where exactly are these new Sheraton lounges, in the hotel or at an airport?
