Expedia called me. Although I just think my flight was canceled because it was December 24.

Is this AA cancellations happening to all flights? I never got a call about any such cancellations on my 5 tickets.

I think Elal is resorting to scare tactics which is disgusting. They told me mother that AA has been canceling flights, and should could get stuck somewhere in Europe if she doesn't change to direct. I wish I could've been on the phone when the rep said that. Way to kill a good PR spin.
And if anyone is concerned, DOT rules of carriage requires the airline to get you to your location on the next available flight if anything happens, the airlines can't just strand you somewhere, they would get hit with massive fines.

Why would AA be cancelling flights? And why would that cause anyone concern, if AA is obligated to rebook you on another flight anyway?

I have been trying to get my ticket from JFK->TLV changed to direct for the past while. I have my flight right now for 6 PM with a 5 hour stopover in Switzerland. I am flying with a baby, so I would really prefer the non-stop for this leg of my trip.

The flight is Wednesday, November 21.  Right now, they are only offering me to fly either Tuesday night at 11:50 or Thu afternoon at 1:15 from Newark. I'm not taking Thu afternoon and cannot take Tue night for work/vacation day purposes.  Every time I call - they say they don't have the Wed night 11:50 flight available.

 Has anyone had success in getting El Al to change a flight to one that they officially were not opening up for this offer?  If so - how did you do it?

A half an hour ago, El Al called to ask me if I want to switch direct. I told her, I had tried to, but I can only take Nov 21 at 11:50 PM. She said that more flights opened up and put me on hold for around 10 minutes to see if she can put me on that flight (while I assumed she asked someone if she could put me on that flight). I know Wed night @ 11:50 (Thanksgiving Eve to top it off) is a popular flight time.  Anyway, I got on!!   So for all of you who couldn't get your dates - try again!

I already got my e-mail Travelocity with the changes.
(Was $75 for me/hubby and $7.50 for baby.)

When I logged into my AA account the flight wasn't there (it was there previously) but I did a reservation look up using elal's Record Locator and AA's Flight number and I got it back. Still seems good.

I mean we asked our Rabbi, and he said it was totally fine, but to then ask them to give me the upgrade for free felt weird.

Agreed. You could just say its not worth it for us/too expensive/can't afford andsee if they offer but I doubt they will

Forget that the date I want never opened up, every time I call they have less and less flights available for this "promotion"!

There was another non stop leg added to my flight on expedia, i never changed it

I have a feeling that the "deadline" will end up being the day of the last bookable flight during the glitch (i.e. June 2013  )

AFAIK it goes by the ticketed airline. So it would be 50%.

Tried to cancel a ticket just now and was told that the last day to do that for free was 8/30. Now it's $250.

Only changing to direct was extended to 9/14.

Anyone heard differently?
