I've been to the new PG twice since they opened (i think in August and September), for a work lunch and a closing dinner, and each time found the service and food to be great, and the new space is so much nicer than the old place (though less convenient for some).

At the dinner with lots of high class private equity millionaire goyim, they were all super impressed with the food (especially the steaks). the only negative was that they didnt give everyone their food at the same time (there were like 40 people), so peeps who got the fish first waited 2 minutes til all the steaks came out.

for lunch, was smooth and delicious, though expensive as always, and my nonkosher lawfirm partner friend said the overall lunch was excellent.

Maybe come before 9pm, since they do close kitchen at 10 and are not a late night spot? if you want a really late dinner, i dont think PG really caters to that, as opposed to business lunch/dinner and dinner before a show.

Hoping to try out RC soon, can anyone comment on the quality of their sushi/raw fish options? My wife is pregnant and only eats a lil sushi at hi-quality places, was hoping this would work.

The only restaurants in Manhattan that are open past 10 are Le Marais, Talia's, Kasbah, and Tiberias.

Lol...you would eat all that :D

I can't say I was that impressed with TPG when we went the week they opened. Have they improved?
I went to the new PG and was not impressed at all. Food was ok at best and service was horrible. I waited over an hour for the food and my wifes dish was wrong. The table next to mine also waited over an hour for their food and also got the wrong dishes.

That was my only experience at the new PG as well.

Went to Solo today, was very impressed. Service was a bit slow, but the food was excellent, and the prices were quite low. We had beef dumplings, beef balls, sesame chicken, and salmon and it was all great. Dessert was decent but nothing special.

All in all a great place to go for a night out if you don't need a steak.

They use the same menu for lunch and dinner but that's going to change soon.

Dinner for two is slightly over half the old Solo and PG.

Saying something is half the price of the old Solo (which was *exorbitant*) isn't saying much.

Also, it matters what's being served. If I said that there's a new pizza place that was open that "only" charges 50% of the old Solo, you'd laugh.

Chinese is the same.

Tried the Chef's Tasting Menu at Mike's. Everything was really tasty.  Portions are quite small.

The seven courses were as follows:
Soup: Butternut Squash
Salad: Roasted & Marinated Beet Salad (candied nuts, fresh citrus segments, orange beet vinaigrette, shaved endive)
Hot Appetizers: Handmade Gnocchi (duck & chicken confit, roasted portobello mushrooms, fresh thyme, duck jus, white truffle oil, chives)
Crispy Veal Sweetbreads  (pea purée, hon shimeji mushrooms, veal glace, tomato oil, potato crisps)
Main Courses: Roasted Chicken & Carrots (pan roasted supreme, parsnip puree, carrots in apple glaze)
Braised Boneless Short Ribs (sun-dried tomato barbecue glaze, mashed yams, braised kale, cilantro, turnip & mustard puree)
Dessert:Blueberry and vanilla ice cream topped with an almond crunch

I'd love to do it, but $300 is pretty expensive for a two-person meal, and I love Mike's.

Compare ETC's tasting menu (which apparently just changed chefs, booooo), and you can get 9 courses for $90 I believe.

It's definitely expensive... but it was a lot of fun and the food was incredible! We ended up tasting delicious food that we wouldn't have necessarily ordered.

If you do try ETC, let us know! Maybe we'll do that next time!  ;)

I've done ETC a number of times. It's amazing.

At least it was before the chef sold-out. Sickens me.

I had the gnocchi last night and it was finger-licking good!
