Are Vacation Clubs and similar condo style hotels no longer going for awards?

I stayed at a Marriot hotel in Europe and my clothes got eaten by moths. Does anyone have a corporate contact who I can speak with? The hotel management will only give me 10, 000 points which is not enough for the damage caused.

I needed 5 nights to retain status, and booked something for cheapest points available for 5 nights stay with mobile check in, about an hour from where I live. they ended up not offering mobile check in, and called and emailed that if I'm not planning on coming they will cancel the remaining 4 nights. anyone have any experience with this? can I tell them it's just a mattress run, and show it as checked in or I'll get in trouble?

Hi all, I would need 13 nights to retain Platinum status. I found a hotel in the midwest for about $55/night - it would come to a total of about $700 to book. I could book 13 rooms for a night, or some combination of nights/rooms.
So first question: Is it worth spending $700 to retain Marriott Platinum? (I used 11 days at Marriott hotels in 2022).
Second question: If yes, do you know if I can just call the hotel and ask them to check the rooms in for me?
Of course if there's a better way to do this, I'm all ears.
Thanks!  :)

first of all you don’t have enough time to get 13 nights. Second it’s not worth $700 for platinum status. You can just get the new Marriott card and pay less and get auto platinum status without any requirements

Thanks, that's a great idea! I've gotta find the link to that card and see what the deal is...

Also, @yitzw although doing this with mobile check in, digital key, worked for me in the past, I tried two hotels with 5 night reward stays (I was five short to retain platinum elite) and both wouldn't give me the digital key, reservation was automatically canceled and refunded for no show, and I did ask one of them to check me in and they wouldn't.

Anyone have any experience getting the suite night upgrades extended? Have a bunch expiring 12/31/22 and I want to have them extended. Called and rep said it isn't possible so before I HUCA I was wondering if there were any DPs out there from people who were successful.

Also, any better odds on the plat elite line?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

I just booked a marriot reservation with points and an award night.
Once the booking went through, I see I was charged $1,000 instead of the $300 I was supposed to be charged!

Wha happened was, for some reason the free night didnt apply and I was charge $700 for the points I was short!

I called marriot and they said the points CAN NOT BE REFUNDED.

I really cant spend the $1,000....

Can someone suggest a solution??

Oh I misunderstood your post.... I guess if it was unclear and not really your fault you can dispute with CC, but dont know how that will affect your Marriott account.

Otherwise sell the extra points that you bought, you wont get back all your $ but at least it will minimize your loss
