Can anyone confirm this is accurate?

Goal: Fly LH F on old rates on, say, 5/15/14.

Book LH F on 1/31 for 2/15.

In the days leading up to and following 2/15, do nothing and let the plane depart with rezzie intact.

On, say, 5/1/14, call UA and use the old PNR to pay a single change fee to change to 5/15/14 (if/when LH opens).

I wonder if on 1/31 all LH F wont be available to book for the week from 2/1 to 2/20, due to everyone attempting to redeem their old awards?!!!! would it be wise to start booking LH F now for flights past 2/1?

My Actual goal is to fly LH F A380 and LH F 744 my routing is NYC(Anywhere USA JFK, MIA, IAH)-FRA-NRT in May 2014.

Sure, book it for tomorrow and cancel.
Officially you need to complete travel within 12 months of ticketing though it's loosely enforced.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Problem is that until we know that routing changes are allowed or not allowed under old pricing scheme, you'd have to pick the routing now and hope to get lucky.

I opened my Mileage Plus Explorer card back in July (for the first time.) I was going to wait longer before closing it for the next churn, but now I'm thinking maybe I should close it as a protest statement. Al derech moshol, like they always say, always file a police report even if the cops will never get your stuff back.

Does anyone have any opinion/advice/guidance on this matter?

I'm heading out to Venice with a few friends in mid-July. I'd like to know if anyone has any advice on where to stay - spcifically over Shabbos. The hotels that we've looked at near the Jewish Ghetto are over $200 a night, and those are the cheap ones!

On another note if anyone has any general advice on sightseeing in Paris, Venice, Rome and London (that's our itinerary), please post so we can make our trip memorable.

Thanks

If you do close it would definitely be great to say you're closing because of the award devaluation. Couldn't hurt.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayinthesky/2013/11/01/united-ups-mileage-needed-for-many-frequent-flier-tickets/3344437/

from this article it seemed they had a legitimate option to discontinue partner awards.

is that even possible?

UA used to do Starnet blocking in the PMCO days, they could have returned to that.

Think that Chase will care all that much about the influence you're telling them about? It's not nearly as concrete as spending the actual money.

Under my instruction, a few hundred k (per month) has been moved over to Chase, and they were slowly moving everything over (Chase makes it much harder for a company to start spending 500k+ per month than Amex does). Now I'm advising them to move back

I'm in a similar situation. There's still Korean though, so UR is not worthless yet.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.
