Probably not... that was the number I used 18 months ago and posted in the GA master thread.

Just call +64-804-1-807-807 (and press 2 for English).

Ring ring...ring ring.. the number you have dialed has either changed or is no longer obtainable..

So they've updated their numbers. Progress!

Perhaps now they won't require us to travel to a foreign city to ticket an award?

Unless I'm misinterpreting, looks like they're taking the 3-class off JED-CGK in August:

So NRT-DPS is still the cheapest.

Also the shortest.

Looks like the 777-300ER is too big for them. Sorry to hear.

Quote
Garuda looked at potential options in late 2014 and early 2015 for sub-leasing or selling some of its 777-300ERs. This would have been a sensible option and could have enabled Garuda to wait for 787s/A350s before resuming long-haul expansion.

The smaller and more efficient A350 and/or 787 could ultimately be a better fit for European routes than the 777-300ER. But subleasing or reducing the 777-300ER commitments was not feasible. Garuda has instead decided to make an adjustment by taking the last four aircraft in two-class configuration.

Garuda CEO Arif Wibowo told CAPA at the 9-Jun-2015 IATA AGM in Miami the new two-class 777-300ERs will initially be used on the twice daily Jakarta-Jeddah service. Both these flights are now operated with 777-300ERs in the original three-class configuration, which will eventually be redeployed to expand in the European market.

Thus, it seems FRA and CDG are possible options for GA 773.

Inbound:

MEL-AUH in EY F A380
AUH-IAD in EY F 787
IAD-JFK in AA "F"
JFK-LAX in AA F A321T (probably won't take, but it's one more leg for a schedule change, and hey, who knows!)

...it's an EY F extravaganza!

After discussion here, I changed the inbound to:

MEL-AUH-JFK in F on A380 x2 allowing me chauffeur in NYC.

They quoted me $550 AUD in taxes, which seems high to me, but perhaps it isn't.

(But as our little secret, I couldn't help keeping the JFK-LAX segment for the next 24 hours :P, shhh)

France is the killer.

Almost $150 AUD per person.

True, but CDG is giving LHR a run for it's money.

Going back to the GA possibility, which would you pick?

My original outbound:

JFK-CDG-DOH-AUH-MEL (QR F, al safwa, EY F)

Assuming I can find one-world availability in at least J on the first segment (which is not an easy task to europe), price would be 50K + 40K AA + 60K AA = 150K AA

Proposed outbound:

JFK-LAX-NRT-DPS-SYD (AA J, JL J, GA F, and the new GA J)

Price would be 50K AA + 90K TY + 70K DL

I just feel like QR F is somewhat "snag-able" and the opportunity and the timing to work out GA F + the new GA J doesn't happen that often and should thus weigh heavier. Thus I'd say GA and make "Al Safwa" happen once they offer free Spa and Showers ;)

Since you can and plan on doing EY F for the inbound. I'd say go with the routing with GA on the outbound. I feel like the only think you'd be missing out in this scenario is the QR A380 bar, as I feel like Al Safwa is kind of pointless for a Kosher keeping traveler.

+1 to the first part. The Al Safwa lounge can be great for an overnight layover, assuming you get a nap room.

I agree. But in that case you're basically just getting a free basic hotel room out of the lounge, which isn't an especially compelling reason to make a routing specifically to see the lounge. And anyway if I had an overnight layover in DOH I'd rather spend it in the GH.

Personally, I am excited about seeing the lounge in a couple of weeks (as long as my friend doesn't back out, which he very well might), when I fly QR F and transit DOH. I just don't know what I'm going to do in the lounge, other than have a few shots, take a shower, and just enjoy the fact that I'm there.
