I figured I’d post a quick reminder that 2014 Hyatt Diamond Suite Upgrade Awards expire at the end of February, which is next Saturday. The important thing to note is that you only have to make bookings using them by the expiration date, though the stay can be on a subsequent date. I still have one to redeem, so will have to figure out what to do with it.

If you have any left over, be sure to redeem them by next Saturday or they’ll disappear. Keep in mind that if you change your dates later, the Upgrade Awards technically can’t be transferred with the new reservation, so whatever you book with them has to be “set in stone” or you’ll risk losing them.

Any way to get a not expensive upgrade at PH nyc next week? I'm not diamond and I used sign up nights. When I called they said it be like $400 a night plus points.
Someone suggested adding a diamond member as a second guest and Upgrade at checkin or perhaps the diamond would call ahead and try to get an upgrade confirmed.
Would this work?

Sounds like any hotel work around. Have a diamond book it, call in, upgrade and make sure to mention that guest XYZ will arrive way before hand and needs to be able to check in without issues. I have done this several times albeit not with Hyatt.

It's already booked, and I used Hyatt cc sign up bonus so I couldn't have a diamond book it, AFAIK
I was advised that at a high class five star like this, a twenty or fifty at check in would not help. After reading heads I'm beds I though it would but DDFers advised not at PH

When I upgraded with IHG it was also my reservation ( I had booked) and I added someone with high status to the reservation and had that person call in for the upgrade. It wasn't the norm but the hotel accepted it and upgraded the room. I would think that it is certainly worth a try.

i booked nights using my gold passport points, i am not a diamondmember, if I get a diamond member on with me, will that help me get an upgrade?
