Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

If I made the in-store activation under my name; and didn't yet register online to a different name, can I do another in-store card activation under my name? In other words: is the problem of having 2 cards under the same name/ss only for online registration? or even for in-store activation?
As long as it's not in the same day Y can do multiple under your ssn

Yes.  I would be activating the cards at the cashier for only temporary cards WITHOUT registering them online.
But how will you get the money off? They needed to be registered to cash or our to pay bills.

i am new to redbird, just tried to pay a bill (write myself a check...) and got this:
Due to technical difficulties we are unable to process your request at the moment. Please try again.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

is this common?

also i cant figure out how to transfer funds from redbird (or BB) directly to my bank account (linked to a bank with whom i don not have credit  cards).

Go to settings in the upper right hand corner (next to 'Profile')
Scroll down to 'withdraw Funds'
Select 'Transfer to Bank'
it should take you through the rest.

Can funds be loaded through a "subaccount" card? Or only primary?
Sub accounts can only be loaded through transfer from parent acct.
(having subs also does NOT increase load capabilities)

I'm having the same issue with billpay. I have an open ticket with CS. Some people on FT reported that updating the phone number in the profile fixed it, but it didn't work for me.

I'll ask again, ask my question above was not answered.  Got a prepaid card, in store used my SS.  Tried to activate under my son's info.  Unfortunately during activation I tried to use email that is active for serve.  Didn't go through.  Finally used a different email.  Got message more info needed.  Email never arrived.  I don't live in an area where redbird is sold so I can't just pop down and get another one.  Any way to salvage the temp card I have?

My email never came through either. I gave them a call- and turns out they just wanted to verify my identity. They sent me the email, & I uploaded the info they wanted.

Don't know what caused the issue here,
Tried loading almost $1500 and it didn't work. The rep showed me his computer, it shows error message or amount too little, tried $1100 & still didn't work. I tried $971 and it worked. I have loaded $2500 on Dec 1. I thought I have $2500 more to load?
Have they deceased the load amount to $1K or less per day?

Your $971 worked because the limit is $1,000 per transaction. (Still allowed up to $2,500 per day.)

The limit is $1,000 per transaction.

It has been $2500 before. I have done $2500 before at once. The wiki says the same thing? hummmmmm!

I  think when I previously loaded $1500 or $2500 at once, I asked the rep to keep entering  the amount  more than once. I think you guys are right here. for example, ask to enter $1k and swipe card again and enter $500 and then swipe your CC! :-[

Per FT, you might be able to swipe the redcard 3 times for 1k,1k,and 500 and then swipe the CC for 1 charge of $2500.
From his post, it sounds like that might be what he did.

That can be done. He seems to be confused and has a hazy memory. Maybe too much kiddush?

I like that.  The cc is less comfortable with multiple swipes.  It smells too much like fraud.  One cc swipe is nice.

In separate transactions, yes. This is in one transaction with one CC swipe.
