Since October 12, 2015, the prepaid REDcard (Redbird) can only be loaded at Target with cash. It can still be loaded online with a bank-issued debit card, up to $200/day and $1K/month.

Therefore, for MS (manufactured spending) Redbird is now considered dead. RIP!

Each SSN can only be attached to 1 of them : bb, serve,  or redcard. That is definite.

IIRC BB family accounts don't require a SSN

You don't have to put a SSN on a subaccount

You can't use the same email address for a BB/serve subaccount and a redcard account. But you can do the gmail . trick or use a different email address.
Don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers

No and please don't try" The one thing the screen says after card is scanned is "cannot be loaded with Target gift card".

OK -- I thought so -- I would normally just try, but since it could be harmful, I asked on DDF first (for a friend)...   ....thank you.

They always send an email with a link to click on to verify. IME takes a few minutes to come.

It's been over 12 hours and I have not got the email.  What should I do?

Are the monthly limits calendar months? I just activated my card in store with $500 and am waiting on the permanent card to come. I read here that I can do another $1,000 on the temp card but if I have all of December to load the permanent card once it comes then there's no reason to waste another trip to Target for the $1,000 load when I'll still need two more trips to take advantage of the full $5,000 monthly limit.

Also, is it safe to use the Redcard to pay off the same credit card bill used to fund the Redcard or should I just stick to bank account transfers?

I've read lots of it but it's 110 pages and I have a job. I did some searching and didn't find the answer yet. If you don't want to answer the question that's fine but just realize that most people can't read all 110 pages of a thread.

Did you read the wiki? Chances are that most of the information you need is in there.

Help!  I thought I was being very clever and bought a $500 target cg at Giant Eagle for the fuel perks.
Now I realize I can't load my red card with it.
I don't even shop at Target.  What can I do to get that money back?  Gift cards are final sale at GE.
I know you guys have a work around for this one.

From the Wiki
Q: How much money can you load onto a temporary RedBird card?
A:  Maximum is $500 initial load, plus $1000 on a subsequent load. So, total is $1500. No more.

So, in a sense you are correct about having to make a few more trips to the store than probably necessary. I just loaded 2 temp cards this week and I've decided I will wait until the permanent cards come, to go back and load again.

It's probably best to do the bank transfer in any case. For me I may use a combination of both direct bill pay and bank transfer, since I have a few cards.

The only workaround I can think of is selling it on a site like giftcardgranny or cardcash. You won't get full value of the card, but you won't be out $500.

Unless you find a dumb rep you won't be able to load a GC onto the red card, I don't even know if the system will let you.

It seems your best bet might be to sell if to a online place, i.e. giftcards.com or make a post here - http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=47232

I'll save the work around advice for someone else, but if there isn't one then I would buy something worth the $500 and try to sell on eBay, Amazon, etc. Sell the GC itself on one of those GC for cash sites.

Oooooorrrrrrrr Buy all your Xmas gifts at Target   :o ;D JK
