+1 though there has been some headway in the past half a decade. What I think we need to improve on most in terms of cuisine, is costumer Service. I can't compare to noon kosher establishments but it seems our high end restaurants forget this important aspect.

While there has been some headway, I think where we need to improve the most is not customer service, it's getting over the laziness. It's sad that virtually every kosher restaurant has the same menu as every other restaurant. Let's have some originality (like Pardes, which is admittedly not the greatest food I have had, but it is the most original food I have had and it's quite good). Additionally, something that even non-kosher restaurants fall into is trying to please everyone. I would rather see 10-15 solid dishes on a menu than have a variety of 50 dishes all of which are mediocre at best. To paraphrase Gordon Ramsay, there's just no way you can make 50 dishes really well all the time.

I agree. And one more point. I've been to non-kosher restaurants with coworkers and have noticed that the ambiance puts ours to shame and often, if not always, the prices are way cheaper for much better ambiance.

Well, as far as prices, there's just no way kosher prices are ever going to be on par with non-kosher. And that's fairly understandable. As far as ambiance, that's just not something that gets me going. I'm not saying it's not important. I am just saying that I would rather my money go to the food than the ambiance and that when I decide to go out to eat, it's because I want the food and not because I say "Oh, I just have to sit in that beautiful restaurant".

Tried out Bravos pizza for the first time (on 37th and broadway)
First off: very tight store and they dont take credit cards so bring cash. They also have decent lines and a wait for tables.  They have a ton of different specialty pies (premade) which are nearly impossible to discern their pricing. They have cheap condiments (salt and pepper packets) but at least they had parmesan. So heres what I got and what I thought:

1 thin crust vodka sauce slice ($5.15): was definitely good. the sauce tasted more like actual tomatoes than many other pizza shops (It still could have been from a can but at least they started with tomatoes from the can and not the sauce). Cheese was good on this slice. I added salt and pepper and it was even better. the crust was very nice, simple and fresh.

2 regular slices ($9.00 and comes with fountain soda): werent as good as the first but were good. Sauce was more pronounced on this one which was fine. The cheese was alright. It wasnt attached to the pizza which to me is a big problem with most pizza stores. I added salt, pepper, and parmesan and it was good.

all in all, it gets my vote for my favorite pizza in New york SO FAR. That may not be saying much since Ive only been to around 6 places. A little pricey and a nice schlep from queens but good pizza.

I also tried out Naomis Pizza on main street in Queens.  I heard good things about their pizza (And also heard very high things about their falafel which I thought was alright) so I tried it out last friday.

I got 2 specialty slices and a soda for like 7.25. Very good prices.
My first was their "white slice." It was thin crust (but not crispy) and there was no sauce. They also throw on some spots of ricotta cheese which added to the flavor. It wasnt fresh and that definitely impacted the overall taste but it was still good. not my favorite, but definitely a good slice with some nice flavor.
My second slice was the 'pesto slice.' Not good at all. I think there was cheese but I couldnt tell. There was what I think was pesto spread over the entire thing. There was this weird flavor of cilantro or parsley or something that just ruined it completely. I couldnt get the flavor out of my mouth for a while. Im glad it was my second slice so it didnt ruin the first. Also, it was even worse because it wasnt fresh at all and I had to reheat it by the time i was ready for it.
Overall, Naomi is a bit dirty and they only take cash but that one slice was pretty good for the price. In my area, it probably gets my vote (over bennys, bengis, and labellas)

I think we should start a new thread, how do you like your pizza?  thin crust vs thick crust, lots of cheese vs no cheese, etc ...

Rafaellos very good, very genuine Italian pizza.
-100 on Bravo's and -1000 on Renaissance.
I think OP was discussing real pizza as opposed to American pizza in which case pizza time in Flatbush is great (is that place even open still?) and, believe it or not, Kingston pizza in CH has had great American style pizza since the owner of Dagan partnered up with them (ambiance aside)...

From someone who has been to den and Rome my other top 2 would be the 3 cheese personal pie in sea and Jerusalem pizza in oak park but definitely the one in Seattle I still dream about it perfect dough sauce and cheese!

Im assuming none of those are truly authentic either.

" Authentic Neapolitan pizza (pizza napoletana) is typically made with San Marzano tomatoes grown on the volcanic plains south of Mount Vesuvius, andmozzarella di bufala Campana made with the milk from water buffalo raised in the marshlands of Campania and Lazio"

Pretty sure they do. There's just a minimum.
