Currently the Consumer Gold is 25k no AF, and the Consumer Platinum is 50K on their site. No referral needed.

With a referral, the platinum is 60k not 50. So if you need a referral , I'm here!

AMEX Platinum will NOT refund at all. That's $699 for the card.

Amex in Canada has bumped up the bonus for the Business Gold rewards card from 25K to 40K & no fee year #1 (amex link below). You need to spend at least $5K but I don't anticipate any issues with reaching it - with the help of Square.

True, my friend & I will swipe each others cards & will do a maximum of $2,500. The additional spend of $2,500 (to reach the $5K spend) will come from day to day transactions. Will also buy Costco GC's and charge it to Amex until December (Costco Canada will stop taking Amex in Jan).

For the Amex Business gold Card (application link above), I used https://www.plastiq.com/ to pay my utilities (fee was between 1.59% - 1.99%). I would only use this method in order to reach a minimum spend ($5k for the Business rewards card) & cover any short fall.
