Yup. I called mastercard before and they told me if the rental company accepts it then as far as they're concerned I'm covered. They said the reason the credit cards come with those disclaimers (saying "might not be covered") is because the rental companies might not accept it but if they do then you're covered. Iv'e rented from both hertz and avis here and they accepted CDW from the WMC. However the other insurance that WMC usually covers (I forgot what it's called now) they won't accept and you have to take it from them.

My friend rented from Avis Israel using a Visa Signature without taking CDW (by mistake), and they let it through. As someone who is at 3 times a week, I've heard them say more than once that it's not automated - it is up to the customer to know their card covers CDW or not.

As for the "other insurance" you have to take... that is LI (liability insurance), which no CC covers. Ever.

Does an AU on a WMC get the same coverage as well? I was told that there covered, I just wanna confirm if that's correct b4 I rent.

When you rent and dcline the cdw they will still charge liability, on my last rental from avis the liability was 55nis and the cdw was 63 nis. I think the cdw includes liability - so by using a card that covers cdw am i only saving 8 nis??

I think that is correct, but with a WMC there is no deductible, which is a massive plus.

good point, if you take their cdw you still have a $500 or $600 responsibility, unless you take coverage to waive that...Ok I'm convinced to stick with the wmc.

I applied for and received a Chase Sapphire Preferred World MasterCard based on the recommendations here for my trip to Israel. No issue at all with my rental. The hertz folks were aware of the coverage and auto-declined the coverage for me and explained it was covered by my card at the rental counter. No fuss at all.

Before leaving, I did call and request a letter for proof of coverage. No issues there either. They emailed it to me within an hour, though I never needed it, in the end.

I was apprehensive as to how difficult it would be to get the rental with the insurance declined, but it was very simple. I was expecting a hard push to pay for it!

sometimes if you take their insurance ( not from the cc)
a. dedustable
b. the cc might NOT be your second covererage either. check with your cc

i just wanted to know whats the average rate on renting a car in Israel like a good price per day Mazda 3 or similar (mainly looking into Avis)?
Also has anyone have experience in Israel of getting an upgrade in Avis PC?
