Last I heard they were closing the place for renovations. I think they were making the place bigger.
Oh well.

Oh well.
I missed the details of when you were going exactly. It wasn't supposed to be for more than a couple weeks.

Each rabanut will be different just like each local vaad. You happened to choose cities where you are willing to rely on the local vaad. Not every vaad is as reliable and you may not always be able to find info on them.

My understanding is that all rabanut hechsherim accept the kashrus of each other's products, thereby reducing them all to the lowest common denominator.

Yes. I was referring to rabanut mehadrins which were being discussed.

Closed until mid-late June.

Open to other mehadrin suggestions anywhere in the country though :)

Sigh.
IIRC I haven't in the past, but that's just because I didn't know if it was OK or not.

Rarely helps.
Which Rav in Israel did you hear that from?
Rav Teitz told me he eats in restaurants that have Rabbanut Yerushalayim Mehadrin supervision, not the plain Rabbanut Yerushalayim. He also said he eats non-fleishig products that are Rabbanut Yerushalayimg (presumably products as in that which you find in a grocery store).

Dan, I feel your pain. Go through when I visit Israel as well. As much as you don't know what's appropriate to eat at it gets even harder when your friends and family want to go out to places that you know you definitely wouldn't eat at.

Crave for example is Mehuderet, whatever that's supposed to mean. What sort of questions would you ask the mashgiach?

Teuda:

Before you ask any questions, find out what mehuderet standards are because even the uneducated ppl everybody bashes over here usually don’t eat it. Then take a look at this. I showed it to a rav he wasn’t happy with most of the hechsherim listed. It’s from November so things could have changed since then.

What is the Rubin standard for wine opening?

Was at a restaurant tonight and the waiter opened the bottle.

Don’t think anything changed since November.

Well obviously Rubin is good. I didn’t get too technical about each specific one because regardless of that list I wouldn’t really eat there because the hechsher on the place is mehuderet. I think crave made that list themselves.

Bottle was not Mevushal. Regardless certain restaurants always had the Mashgiach open the bottle, I'm wondering if that was a Hashgocha policy or location/Mashgiach policy.

IME most mehadrin restaurants I've been to always had mashgiach pour the bottles regardless if the bottle was mevushal or not.
