I've decided on my 3,000th post, so here it is. (Technically this is JS so my 3,000th post is somewhere else, but close enough.)
I'd like to use my 3,000th post to give a public thank you to this amazing forum. Obviously the deals and travel advice here are great and have enabled me to take trips and build amazing memories with my family, but over the past 4 years I'd say what I've appreciated even more is the great community here. I can go on and on, but to highlight just a few small ways that DDF has come into my life:
- I met an established DDFer and ultimately became his first chavrusa ever. We went on to learn over the phone from hundreds of miles away, and a year later he came to Toronto for a siyum in person- his first siyum ever. I consider him a true friend today.
- I met another longtime DDFer who was in the process of moving to my hometown, and over the next couple years we become real friends, spent many shabbos seudos together, and have helped each other in more ways than I can remember.
- On erev pesach in the early days of COVID I posted that a relative of mine in another city had serious medical issues and had just gotten covid, and was struggling to find an oximeter. Within a couple hours a DDFer had offered to lend me one and I had an Uber pick it up to deliver it to my relative.
- Through DDF I’ve had the privilege to be a small link in the chain of spreading Torah to others' Shabbos tables, as @YitzyS reminded me above.
- In my short time here I've seen DDF raise money for war rescue in Ukraine, run its own matching campaign for COVID victims' families, put together an ad campaign to warn people about credit card farms, and countless other acts of crowsourced kindness like this and this.
I could go on as I'm remembering more while I type this, but I think my point is clear- thank you
@Dan,
@jj1000 and really everyone here. You've created something great.
