Couple of books I read recently:
Custer's Trials by T.J. Stiles is an epic read. If you are at all interested in American history, primarily the Civil and Indian Wars, this is a must-read.
Skyfaring by Mark Vanhoenacker has been discussed elsewhere on DDF. I'll admit to be slightly disappointed with it, as the wonderful
NY Times feature kinda gives away the best parts. Nevertheless, this is an amazing book for any aviation nerd.
Rube Goldberg: His Life and Work by Peter C. Marzio was a very entertaining read, if the tiniest bit tedious at times. Rube wasn't only about Rube Goldberg machines; he was way more multifaceted than that.
The innocents Abroad by Mark Twain is, as you'd expect, full of the crazy humor and ridiculousness that no modern author has been able to match. Wonderful glimpse into the less-glamourous side of travel, and the day-to-day life in the 1860s all around the Mediterranean.
