While less people would have died which is certainly a significant benefit, that could have been had without the draconian Melbourne model.
We were never going to be Melbourne like, but Toronto was certainly a possibility.
Victoria has 1,657 deaths out of 6,681,000 people or 1 in 4,032 people.
Ontario has 10,500 deaths out of 14,570,000 people or 1 in 1,388 people.
US has 847,000 deaths 329,000,000 or 1 in 388 people. If we had Ontario's numbers we would only have 237K deaths instead of 847K deaths.
Of course that way over simplifies things, ignores excess deaths and many other factors, but just some back of the napkin numbers to think about.
