It's extremely unlikely that 60% of household contacts contracted Covid (the rate of transmission would be much higher than 1 if that was the case)

And even if all contacts were infected, less than 60% would be symptomatic.

The simpler explanation is that the study is bogus.

"Bogus"?  Is this right-wing media, where name calling takes the place of thoughtful discourse? 

The authors give further limitations of this study, which they agree has its problems.  They don't seem to be lying, or intentionally misleading their readers.

But they are.

Based on global averages, out of 110 household contacts, you’d expect 30 Covid infections, and around 15 of them symptomatic.

This study found 4x global averages. That is an irreconcilable discrepancy.

It is either fundamentally flawed or intentionally fraudulent, and either way it is completely bogus.

Standing up for something that is way outside the realm of possibility isn’t thoughtful discourse.

I stopped reading at “reducing viral shedding in non-hospitalized patients” which isn’t the same as “treating COVID”. Outcomes like hospitalization, intubation, and death, are what really changes things. Unless you’ll suggest to me that Ivermectin nips COVID in the bud, but that’s it doesn’t do.

If it’s local to one part of Nigeria, there could be other environmental factors there. The study has no sperm samples from before the ivermectin, nor a control group of participants with similar demographics who didn’t take ivermectin to compare to.

They had a built-in control, but the people using this don't need the study to have been done scientifically.

In this study we screened a total of 385 patients who were diagnosed of onchocerciasis. Out of which, 37 (9.6%) were eligible for further tests, as their sperm counts were normal while the remaining patients had very low sperm counts and were therefore not used for further tests or were too weak after the preliminary screening tests and were not considered eligible for further test/studies.
