For all NY-based drivers, assuming weather cooperates, what's the "best" destination?

Don't want to jinx anything yet, but currently looking at rain in Dallas and partly sunny skies in Cleveland for 4/8...

@Dan up for hosting a DO?

Syracuse is likely closest and currently seems to have the best forecast. Although it'll only have about 1 minute of totality.

Go to the northern end of Syracuse and you'll get 2.5 minutes.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Plattsburgh New York will have 3.33 minutes.

is an extra hour of driving worth 45 more seconds? (actually asking, not sarcasm)

I'd say yes.

That being said, you don't be able to make final plans until after shabbos tbh.

Trying to establish if it makes more sense for us to head out Sunday PM or Monday AM. Our target site is ~4 hrs from home, but we want to maintain flexibility in case the weather is better 60 miles north/south etc.

If we leave Sunday PM we'd be sleeping over 2 hrs from home, no closer (for flexibility). If we leave Monday AM we'd leave real early.

So far it seems to be down to cost of hotel (points) for Sunday night vs being a bit more tired on the drive back if we leave Monday AM. Anything I'm not thinking of?

The obvious things like minyan, food, traffic, actual viewing location options (idk what’s important in this regard).

Yeah not a bad idea. Might stay in Monticello and then drive to Plattsburgh at like 2 or 3 am.
