The Biden administration, facing an election, rightly fears a repeat of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Taken together, these two factors suggest a uniquely favorable atmosphere for Israel to win now.

This illustrates how risky it is for Biden to capitulate to the fringe elements of his party.

He's thinking a) Sinwar actually cares about civilian deaths and b) somehow your citizens being killed as collateral damage in war is a reason to continue the war so more can die, instead of stopping the war, so lives can be spared.
