Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia
I started my day by singing hallel on the roof of my hostel in the company of some Indonesian and Filipino backpackers who have never seen a Jew before. Went jet skiing in the Andaman Sea, Hiked through the jungle, met some wild monkeys, swam in one of the only Meromictic lakes in the world, raced a baby turtle, chilled with some cool backpakers from France, Spain & Yemen on the beach, got a bumpy boat ride back (after being deserted by my captain for a bit on a remote beach). Rode my motorbike on beautiful coastal roads when out of nowhere a tropical cyclone slammed right into me, had to do another 15 kilometers in a crazy storm on a motorbike. Cop tried fining me for not wearing a seatbelt...(yes, on a motorbike, i called his bluff). Celebrated the Indian New year (Devali) with funky Indians in little India. Whew, what an awesome Rosh Chodesh.
