Correct, also in options you have to be right in your timing, to work in your favor before expiration.
True, though you can often roll.

Let's use this

to explore this
@Mordyk why did you by a call?

If I had to guess, buying the call was far less margin than buying stock on margin, and the downside protection is built in and easy.

I actually can't see how leverage (in a long position) can ever be as easily and cheaply obtained as with a Call.
I actually buy simple options many times just based on trends or minor details. I try not to be too greedy and just catch a small profit

For forex XAU/USD what is the margin requirement? Is it 100%?

Is anyone long on TURN for their stake in D-Wave?
I have this Brilliant geek in the office who convinced me a little while ago to start picking up some shares of TURN because that was one of the best ways to  be invested in D-Wave which he believes is going to be huge one day. (In his words it would be like buying MSFT in the 80's). Now I dont really know much about Quantum computing and the challenges, competition, outlook etc...so I only picked up some shares for kicks. So far it has been heading in the right direction and now I want to research more and maybe pickup some more shares.

In short D-wave seems to be at the forefront of building Quantum(like?) machines that are being tested by Nasa, Google etc... and they are privately held. TURN (180 Degree Capital) has an early investment in the company and would be an indirect way of buying shares in D-Wave.

No, nothing to do with stocks, I was waiting to buy pm's after the 21 day decline almost on a daily basis, till i got a signal to go long, the trade is in the green and i am using a trailing stop, I think a very strong move is in progress.

This is a penny stock, these are very prone to manipulation and pump and dump, just be careful, use a small stop , actually $1.72 is first support, and stronger support at $1.39.

I understand that, and I am not trying to play this for some quick moves and risks of a penny stock. Essentially 16% of their NAV is the D-Wave holding, so even if the price swings up and down for a while, my real play is if D-Wave really pans out and at that point there will be a real value to lift the price and not just pumping and dumping.
So my question still stands, if D-Wave is something serious enough to bet on long term.
(TURN spiked up to around 2.10 today so far, I cant find any news or reasons, so this could be a pump/dump situation. Do you see any changes in the resistance levels? I am thinking of selling off half my position and trying to buy back on a dip- assuming there will be one. Not sure.)

That is extremely subjective.

Putting a value on a non-public company, with no earnings (CMIIAW) is subject to opinions and speculations about the future of the company.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

good point. Let me rephrase them, if I am convinced in the future of D-wave, and this is a long term play for when that pans out, the fact that this is a penny stock and can fluctuate irrationally shouldn't really bother me too much. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If anything, the dips will be opportunity to buy more if im a believer

If you believe in the future of D-wave as a long term investment , then go for it, just limit the amount you invest to your pain threshold, because with these penny stocks you can lose it all.
Good luck.

It made it to my target, high today was $82.50, hit resistance. I am a short term trader, i'll take the profit and move to the next trade. With EFX I caught the exact bottom at 90 and made a nice profit, it moved much higher , actually 22 points in a couple of weeks since then.
$82.50-$83 strong resistance limiting the upside, earnings on 10-25, i'll watch the $83 level.

In 5 days, silver at $17.36 +.54 profit $2700  , Gold $1302 + 25  profit $2500, Palladium $998 +73   profit $7300, and Platinum $946 +31  profit $1550. Palladium was the killer here, a huge move.
I am selling and going flat over the weekend, this is just the beginning of a much stronger move, i'll be looking to renter on the long side.

The USD is weakening again, USD/ILS is down to a major support 3.48-3.49, the Bank of Israel does not want a stronger ILS but looks like there is not much they can do,  the USD is down from 4 to 3.48 , watch the  important 3.48 support level.

If I can find a good way to short BTC/USD when I get a sell signal at the right time, this has been a crazy ride, so many people made obscene profits by luck.

I could tank BTC whenever I want. All I need to do is buy some ;)

The only easy way  to short BTC that I know if is through GBTC. If there's an easier way, I'd love to learn about it
