HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Does adding myself as an AU without my social to my wife's account cause it show on my credit report? I don't want to bring down the average age of my accounts.

On my statement it says 100000 points were earned but 0 points were transferred to AA what does that mean?
And if I have to wait until next statement, If I cancel the card will I still get my points?

PUPA!!!

You probably have to wait another statement or too and closing the card would probably cause you to lose them.

From other posts I have read, if this is the first time this has happened to you, Citi should waive the Cash Advance Fee - but you will also need to make sure any interest charged is also removed - possibly you will have to wait until the statement is produced and get a credit for the interest (in case you were not aware, CA are charged interest from the 1st day of the advance).

Cash advances do not earn miles - so you will need to spend some more - keep in mind that March 1 is only 5 days away, and you can do AP. If you have more than one AP account you can use the same AA card for each AP account by creating different virtual CC numbers for each AP account.

If you are not familiar with this - do a search under my name - I dont have many post here on DDF, so it should be easy to find a detailed "spoon fed" guide on how to create virtual numbers with Citi credit cards.

I normally do not read these type of threads - but this one gained my interest. Dan tries to help, yet a few think there is a hidden agenda. While on this occassion, I think these people are completely off the mark - there have been threads  (on other forums) where "mis-information" is promoted to try and preserve a method/technique from being abused by the masses.

After all - we don't want red circles and black arrows on here do we ??

Thanks so much. Here is what I did.

1. I called Citi ad confirmed, yep, all the AMEX GCs are counted as CA. 5% fee plus daily interest.
2. I called AMEX in "Salt Lake City" and spent 30 min dealing with rep. The best he can do is refund the charges (not cancel the transaction.)

I am wondering if Citi will automatically reverse the CA fee (and interest) when the charges are refunded, or if that will take another call and some begging to get them to take care of it.

Any insights?

Perhaps try to get a rep at CITI to place a note on your account - that you did not know this was going to be a CA - that you have cancelled the order with AMEX - and could CITI please credit the 5% fee on this one occassion? A nice rep should agree to that - and if the 1st rep does not - try try again.

Info seems pretty straight. Care to spell it out or are you talking about the RF ticket?

Old data point: I once bought 3k with a Citi card and it was not CA. Granted it was: a different card (TYPF), December 2012, and merchant was coded as Merchant Category:   DIRECT MARKETING/DIRECT MARKETERS.

People are overly anxious about Citi and CA fees. I don't know why.

I can tell you that in my case the category of the pending charge was "financial institutions" and that the phone rep (I know, don't believe reps) said it was for sure a cash advance.

I guess we will see. I spoke with a rep at Citi who will credit back the CA fee. We will see if there is anything to credit back. But we won't know that for a few weeks when my statement closes since those kinds of fees don't get processed until statement closes.

Anything coded as a FI Citi will charge a CA fee. Been this way for a few years. With a 2-3k GC not a big thing but when funding a bank account for 50k+ in can sting.

Howdy folks.  I and others have posted about some AA "glitch" whereby miles earned on the Citi AA CC were not being transferred to AA.  In either event, I am waiting approximately 3 months and still haven't received any miles - both bonus and spending.  Has anyone recently applied for and received AA miles?  If so, how did you manage to get them credited to your AA account?

It was a Citi Business AA card that I churned.  50k bonus miles + spending miles showed up as "earned" on my first statement but it said "0" miles transferred to AA.  So far I called 2x and was told there is a "glitch" at AA and they do not know when the miles will be transferred to my AA account.
