HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

what would be wrong, what can they do?
AA is shutting down accounts of people who booked tickets to meet threshold and then canceled the ticket after getting the bonus miles.
He's thinking maybe they'll do the same to people who cancel the cc after getting the bonus..

AA is shutting down accounts of people who booked tickets to meet threshold and then canceled the ticket after getting the bonus miles.
... even though that is also perfectly legal.

Got the cards. Spent the 10k, got the 110k miles & called to cancel. They were pleading to keep it open. They gave a $50 statement credit & offered 750 mile bonus for every 750 dollars spent... I accepted being that I have another 30 days or so to cancel. I told the rep that taking the $50 I am not committing.
I am not sure why no one else on this post seems to be 100% certain that you can cancel...
750 mile bonus for every $750how many times?

Applied for the executive card with a frozen Experian (NY) and the system didn't even create a application ID. Just said that they will contact me. I called in and the rep said they need the PIN to pull from Experian.
