HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

Is this a bitter end with Citi HUCA as it is with Barclaycard?
No, be creative.

I applied for a second card but got denied because of debt to income ratio was too high, I tried calling back and got the same "script" the first guy read and that  it's in the notes...
He was saying that legally they can't approve me even by just moving around credit
Any ideas what to do?

It surely will. I just wanted to prove that you can close a card with a balance. Upthread someone claimed that not.

hi all,

I called to close
and they offered me 100.00 credit if I spend I think around 1500.00 in 3 months.
plus they offered 5000 points
That would make this card only 150.00 (because of the 200.00 credit)

but I declined and asked to close it
I still have one open and maybe I will get this offer again at closing that one.

good shabbos

It's not over yet. But all good things come to an end.
