Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

I applied for the CSR on Dec 19.

I called to have it rush shipped. i received it in the mail 2 days latter. i called and SM'ed to change my due date to Dec 28. they changed it but told me that I'm not going to get a Dec Statement because its too late in the month.

On Dec 25 i bought a Delta Airlines $300 gift card, 2 days latter i saw it on the TravelCredit spending meter.

Now when I'm looking on the TravelCredit spending meter* it says: $0 Received towards your $300 Annual Travel Credit

*(This shows what you've received against the $300 Annual Travel Credit. Each time you get a statement credit for your eligible travel purchases, you'll see the number grow.)
the same thing happened to me, they told me that I won't get a December statement and in fact i did get one.

Did you get a statement in Dec?

Yes i got a Dec statement.

I had luck that i didn't believed Dan... when he wrote on 12/18/16 here http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/102272 Due to how Chase calculates the annual spend credit, it’s likely too late to apply for a Sapphire Reserve now and take advantage of 3 travel refunds in your first cardmembership year.

And i decide to buy a Delta gift card. as per Dan I should have missed the deadline for the 2016 TravelCredit.

My friend told me he didn't used up his TravelCredit because he still have until the end of 2017 to spend it.

#DROPR! and on SM! (and on Dan... just joking Dan you are the best!)

If I'm 4/24 right now, any point of doing 2bm for reserve and another card
Sometimes it doesn't pay to save money.

Do reserve first. What's there to lose ? There are cards that aren't affected by 5/24.

Sure.  Do the reserve, and once approved (same day) do a chase card that 5/24 doesn't apply to.

I ended up getting 3 cards when I was 4/24, I would say definitely do the reserve and then 2 more that are affected by 5/24, you can always get the other ones later.

HUCA, I ended up having to close my SP but it was worth it, took many calls though.

That's the one thing I haven't succeeded in overcoming yet with HUCA.

What does it mean that Chase Reserve charged me my annual membership fee on January 1?
Do they do that to everyone?
My my next payment due is February 16? Does that mean if I would have pushed and moved it up one day and spent the travel credit I could have gotten double credit for 2016-2017?

Yes.
they charged me the AF in nov. so they don't do that to everyone. I think it has nothing to do with jan. 1 it is just when his came out.

why not?

He wanted to know if everyone gets charged the same way. The answer is yes, everyone gets the AF the first of the month after the card is opened.

Same as all chase cards, 30 days to cancel, whole year for downgrade and prorated AF.
Any reason not to downgrade after 2017 travel credit to recoup part  of fee.
