I think so.
We can ask the wholesaler how many people bought for him.
But I had 2 accounts shut. 1 was insignificant, the other was my regular backup account.

Also plenty of frum people work for Google. Find some of them and ask for help.

So, interesting update, when I filled out the disabled form for my secondary e-mail (albeit a work e-mail address) the response I received was basically "sorry, your account is not eligible for reinstatement." My spouses e-mail (their primary) the e-mail back stated "we are looking into your request and we've found that there is already a pending appeal on your account..." Has anyone here received the second appeals e-mail? Just curious

Wow! Thank Gd I was not involved in this. I cannot imagine being without my gmail account. I feel bad for everyone affected.

I think that is a good sign, my spouses didn't either, filled out one today and that is the response we received today (about the appeal).

On the one hand, that gives us more leverage (power in numbers), on the other, it gives us less (more potential harm wrought on Google).

They already responded to your reinstatement request? First I've heard.

When I tried to supplement my reinstatement request for my account with more information, I got an email back saying

We've looked into your request and we've found that there is already a pending appeal for your account. Please wait for the result of your current appeal.

  Not sure why you would have gotten an email saying there is already an appeal pending on an account no appeal was made. Odd.

I know personally 20 accounts that got shut down.

How does Google shut down a Yahoo account?

For me, the main crisis would be my drive/photos /gv /linked apps, than the actual emails.

Out of pure curiosity. What was everyone doing? Buying the phone for a dealer out of the country? Is it that much cheaper  here?

Buying phones for dealers in the country, that have you ship to their fulfillment center (or rented office) in a state that doesn't charge sales tax. Then they sell the phones to international brokers/contacts. Same system (probably same buyers/brokers) as the iPhone deals every September.

Problem is, Google picked up on orders equaling thousands of phones being shipped to the same few addresses.

Each company releases phones in batches all around the world.
Example: This phone might not be released for another 6 months in Australia and people there may want it already and are willing to pay a premium to get it imported from the US.

If I lost my google account I'd feel like I lost part of my identity.
In some ways it's part of who I am. Someone wants to reach out to me to say hi or wants to do business, they send me an email.

Gone.

Let me check my vacation photos that I stored in the cloud.

How about my spreadsheets and work documents I backed up on Drive?

Also gone.

Maybe it's time that companies give us more rights. Imagine USPS stopped delivering your mail because you didn't put enough stamps on an envelope?

Google, you wanna suspend me? Give me 30 days to export my data and notify my contacts of the change.

Remember, services like Gmail, Drive, despite not having an upfront cost, are not free.
We are the product, and google profits very much off our data. We deserve to be treated like any paying customer.

Please blame this on the phone brokers. I had a dozen brokers reach out to me for iPhone resales and eventually turned them all down a few years in a row, losing a ton of cash each time, all for the reason that I read Apple T&C and saw it was prohibited and when done on such a mass scale even if they didn't do anything before they might and are entitled to make an exception if the wanted to.

Why the need to blame anyone? Do you think the dealers anticipated this? I don't understand why you (and often Dan) need to turn everyone's pain into your gain for "foreseeing this". People lost their primary google account that is a big deal. No need to mention here when the pain is raw how you knew better and denied their "ads". Sorry for being rough, it's just your post hits a raw nerve in me.
