Can I use the same PCR test for entry into Canada and re-entry back into the US assuming it’s within 72 hours of entry/re-entry?

ETA just so this isn't misunderstood- you can't do the same going the opposite way. To get into Canada you can't use a test taken in Canada, even if it was within 72 hrs.

Does anyone have any experience getting a passport at the US consulate lately? If I have an appointment for 01/26/22 can I have it by 04/01/22?

Vaccinated US citizens can go into canada.  Just need to do PCR 72 hours in advance of entry into Canada (if you are going back and forth the same day, you can do it in Canada before you leave) and upload everything into the Arrivecan app

Again. A. I'm not vaccinated. B. I need to renew my passport which would require me giving in my only passport leaving me with no passport to get back into Canada

I didnt know you werent vaccinated.  The passport thing is an issue. 

From times I have gotten renewals at the consulate in Toronto (I just did it a couple of months ago for my son) I got the new one within a month

Hold a moment - are you a minor? If not, why not just mail it away? You don't need an appointment for an adult renewal

Sorry for not clarifying. I'm not a minor but it was issued before I turned 16 thus making me uneligible to mail it

I hadn't heard about this but a quick google search seems to indicate that this might be changing on Jan 15.

As of January 15, 2022, certain groups of travellers, who are currently exempt from entry requirements, will only be allowed to enter the country if they are fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved for entry into Canada. These groups include:

Individuals travelling to reunite with family (unless they are under 18 years of age if travelling to reunite with an immediate or extended family member who is either fully vaccinated or a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person registered under the Indian Act.)
