I'm shocked that with $18 water and $28 fries that people thought this place was expensive.

Elan is just a shill who makes a living by being there to protect restaurants and spin whatever they want. The other day on one of his chats someone posted a story about a restaurant that had hair in a dish and he sent it back but salted it like crazy first and sure enough the same dish came back. And elan made sure that the guy didn’t share the name of the restaurant and also got upset at anyone for even trying to figure out what the name was.

This whole seared sob story is just more of the same. They opened up an expensive restaurant when the market was on a massive downswing and had to adjust. It’s called capitalism and hopefully they can make it now at a lower price point.

This is debatable. Local is a plus.

Distance wise, perhaps. But you’d rather go to an upscale restaurant on the boardwalk to one in an overcrowded shopping plaza in middle of the city.

Which makes it still more expensive than Salt which is the gold standard of the area and in a better location.
Any DDF reviews? Worth the shlep from EWR?

I’d say it’s definitely worth the drive. Overall it’s on par with the better Manhattan restaurants while offering a different vibe. It’s right off the boardwalk (along with other storefronts) so it can be paired with a nice stroll before or after your meal.

The restaurant is large and really well designed, and it’s a fun place but loud by design, and where you might stop by your friends table to say hello. The service is top notch and they have a great bar, and a large lounge area. Reservations are needed, sometimes well in advance.

The food - they have really solid to great food across the board, and often introduce new items on the menu. The flatbreads are top notch, and so is the chicken karage.

If your schlepping for Salt, make sure to do Teva as well. It’s part of DSN beach club but is open for non club members before the real summer season starts.

I was there a couple times 3-4 months ago. Ambience is great, really beautiful place. It’s Italian. Food is great and not typical, but I felt they needed pizza on the menu. It was also BYOB at the time.

It’s located on the beach in the DSN community center on the 3rd floor. They have a retractable roof that’s open in good weather. But as mentioned above only members can go in the summer.
