Seems like Chase is trying their hardest to make sure churning dies.
What excuse are they giving you ?

Any reason to pay the annual fee, and keep one of the SW cards open ?

yes, if it's a low $69 or $99 fee, and you can get 6-8 round trip MIA or LAX tickets per year via points and companion passes, then IMO, it's worth it.

Why do you need the card to redeem points?
Are you referring to new points earned from spending?

I'm not sure what you mean ? IINM I can redeem points without having the credit card open. My question was, are there any specific perks that the card itself offers to justify the AF ?

No. Just wait for the anniversary points to post and cancel.

yes, referring to the benefits of having the card for another year. Spending $30K on it per year can allow for several free round trip tickets. Even one way to FL can be 4,000 points from the East Coast on some routes.

Ah. I don't think that's worth $69-$99.
I don't spend on CCs that are older than three months...

Ink+ is a better Southwest earner than a Rapid Rewards card.  Even on revenue tickets if you purchase Southwest gift cards.

The 30k is what you need to get the free companion pass ?

I don't have a ink+ card.

I was approved for SW premier card on Dec 10th with the 50,000. I checked for the PLUS card but it only had 25,000 however someone recently sent me a 50,000 bonus referral. I am hoping to get the companion pass for 2015 and 2016-should I apply now for the plus or wait until  Jan 2016. Either way I can meet the spend on both cards if approved. I filled out the application at LAS and it was quick and easy for approval-I was told I have to do the plus application over the phone. The last time i did a phone application the CR read the T & C word for word-I was ready to fall asleep.

You can get companion for 2016-17 if 110,000  post in 2016. Even if you apply now, just finish spends in January. I hope you didn't finish your spend on Premier yet because you want that also to post in 2016.

Shoot I did not realize that. I spent the 2k a week ago. So if 50k post in 2015, and 60k in January, then that won't work to get the companion pass ?!

When does your statement close? Did 50k post? I screwed up my first time too (Lost track of spending). Chalk it up to Dumb Mistakes.

Have to check when statements closes. I don't know if it posted, bec. Chase generated a RR number for me, since I didn't open a RR account beforehand. I didn't get around to getting  the info. yet.
Is there anyway to get them to postpone posting to date ?

bonus will post only if spend was completed 7 days in advance of closing date. Use that to your advantage.

First Statement is only closing on Jan. 7th, and rep says miles will post 3-5 days after the statement closes. Is that reliable info. or is it possible that the miles can post earlier ?

I completed spend on Dec. 10th.  Just checked my account, and so far no miles yet. Hope this time I can ROPR, and they'll only post in January.
