(Bloomberg) --Delta Air Lines Inc. is indefinitely suspending flights between Tel Aviv and airports in Atlanta and Boston, pulling back from prior plans to restart them at the end of this month.
All Delta Tel Aviv flights currently are suspended
Flights between New York and Tel Aviv will resume Nov. 1, the carrier said Wednesday
Delta will continue adjusting schedules, including more cancellations on a rolling basis, as needed “for the safety of our customers and crew”

Got this from the State Department after signing up for info since we have a child there:

The situation in Israel is still unpredictable; mortar and rocket fire may take place without warning.  Please continue to follow the instructions of security and emergency response officials.

Commercial flights are available but limited.  If you wish to leave Israel, we encourage you to take advantage of those options now.  U.S. carriers have temporarily suspended flights to Israel, if you choose to depart, you will need to fly to an intermediate location and book onward travel from there to the United States.

We understand there is high demand from U.S. citizens wishing to depart and the flight options are reduced.  In the coming days we hope to assist U.S. citizens with transportation options to depart Israel.  Due to the large numbers of U.S. citizens indicating interest in departure assistance, we will plan to offer transit over several days.  If you choose to take this departure assistance, transportation may be by air or sea and will be to a nearby safe location and not to the United States.  Travelers should be prepared to arrange their own lodging at the safe location and pay for their own onward travel from the third country to their chosen destination.  Departure assistance is provided via a loan from the U.S. government which requires travelers to sign a promissory note (an agreement to repay) prior to departure.

If you wish to depart with U.S. government assistance, you MUST reply to this email.   Only individuals who reply to this email will receive further information.  In your reply, you must include the names of your U.S. citizen family members who would like to depart, as well as a valid phone number that we may use to call you.  Email will remain our primary method of communication with you.

Please check your email frequently and stay alert to new messages from us with specific instructions for departure. Please check your spam/junk folder in case our message is filtered by your email system.

If you are receiving this message, it is because you are registered in our crisis tracking system and will continue to receive communications from us.  If you are aware of additional U.S. citizens seeking to be in touch with the U.S. Embassy in Israel, please click this link for our crisis intake form , or call 1-833-890-9595 (toll free) 606-641-0131 (U.S. local) 03-519-7426 (Israel local). For the latest security alert regarding Israel, please click here .

Remember, if you need assistance to depart Israel with U.S. government assistance:

Reply to this email.
Include the names of your U.S. citizen family members who would like to depart.
Provide a valid phone number that we may use to call you.
Please note if you are in Gaza or another location where you cannot reach areas in Israel

Gaza: U.S. citizens in Gaza are encouraged to leave as soon as possible.  Given the dynamic security situation in Gaza, U.S. citizens should assess their own security when deciding whether to travel.  U.S. government personnel are not able to travel to Gaza or the Gaza periphery to assist at this time.

U.S. officials stand ready to provide consular assistance to U.S. citizens departing Gaza upon arrival in Cairo.  At this time, if you exit Gaza via the Rafah border crossing into Egypt, you should plan to find your own transportation to Cairo (5+ hour drive) or your final destination.

Canada:
It was announced that they are sending a military aircraft as airline options for Canadians wishing to fly as options for North America + EU are limited.
The email sent out was that they would provide details within 24 hours (by Thursday morning Israel time) and that it would be expected that people should be ready to go on short notice.

I should add- the email states "Canada is planning assisted departure flight options from Israel to a safe location".
Where is that "location"  im guessing it Canada?!

In the meantime, Air Canada has only canceled flights for this week up to and including this Friday-according to their website- with no new information if the flights will resume next week or not. I'm guessing Air Canada is likely waiting on seeing what the Govt will pony up in terms of covering the insurance costs for the airline before making the call. They have fully booked flights, both ways, including from flights that were earlier canceled.

We originally had Virgin air tickets Tlv -LHR-JFK for Oct 10 right M Yom Tov when the news became clear I call the airline immediately and already at that point they had nothing available prior to Sunday night October 15 I asked them to hold it for me since our flight wasn’t yet canceled. At this point it wasn’t yet clear which airlines are flying and who’s not. If only we would’ve know…..

With the sirens going off a few times a day in Jerusalem and the kids being petrified we just decided we got to get out at any expense and starting booking flight after flight just to get us out of israel however they ended up getting canceled. With no other option on Monday night we found tickets with bluebird (sprit cousin) leaving Tuesday 2:30pm Tlv -LCA (Cyprus) ended up being way over price $600 a pop for a 40 minute flight. Before looking any further we grabbed them and ran Tuesday morning to the airport. We did pay for vip service that usually avoids the security line and takes you up to the front however due to the situation it’s no guarantee to work. However when you get to the airport there are 3 sections A, B, C, (some other airlines are maybe at other locations) section C is where Elal and the normal airlines operate and has the crazy long lines always (can take even 5 hrs) being that we were flying with a cheap airline we went to the no line section A security check and within a few minutes we were all cleared and luggage tagged ( I don’t know if other airlines like Turkish besides Elal have their own security team if they don’t I would highly recommend going to the quicker section A&B security check and then proceeding to your checkin counters.

After flying on a jam packed playgroup bus on wings flight we b”h landed in Larnaca (Cyprus )  and bh out on f a war zone the challenge became how to get flights towards home. Most flights have been booked out already 1 option was to leave Thursday night  to London which would’ve meant that a staying over shabbos in London. Someone told us about a flight leaving in a few hours from LCA to Qatar with a 15 hour stopover in Qatar and then Qatar flight to jfk. With hardly any better options we jump for those tickets mind you they costed about $10k for just 6 economy tickets LCA-DOA-DOA-JFK obviously not the best time at all to be in Qatar however I’ve been there back in 2019 and knew somewhat the place we went for this and boarded the plan. Surprisingly there were a few other Jewish families on our flight with each one having a different return flight. I’m a Hyatt globalist and we desperately needed sleep so we booked the grand Hyatt in Qatar and I requested my concierge to get us a suite so our 4 kids can have room to sleep. We landed in Qatar after 12 o’clock late last night. We made a car reservation but nix it after we landed. After 15 minutes negotiations by the taxi station they agreed not to rip us off and directed us to the reg taxis. We took a 20 minute taxi and arrived at the stunning grand Hyatt hotel. Service was next level from once the door of our taxi was opened. I wish America would learn from them on this one. Every hotel has baggage check just like the airport machine scanners and people have to go through the same metal detectors as well. Once we got to the front desk they had everything prepared for us in advance. They indeed upgraded to a humongous suite we requested for 3 roller beds for the kids and got it into our rooms no problem. The kids were on a high and finally after a hour or 2 everyone was out cold. We woke up late morning today to 100 degree weather outside I went down to the breakfast lounge and again they were very helpful trying to accommodate us. Got some fruits, avocados, peanut butter etc . There isn’t really any kosher food in the country and we came very unprepared. Luckily we filled up a hand luggage with israeli snacks and some pitas but that’s about it. We left our hotel at 1pm and took a taxi back to the airport. The place is beautiful as expected we got stares and looks from a nice amount of people. It also didn’t help that the tv’s were all displaying what’s going on in Gaza…..

We boarded our flight and finally iyh we’ll hopefully be back in NY the flight is only 14 hrs long and we have 7 hours more to go.

Wishing everyone safe travels and a speedy end to this cruelty with peace in calm with the entire world.

Just some suggestions we’ve received loads of messages from all over and really appreciate it.

it’s a disgrace from the USA. I understand that they had the most citizens in the country but still nothing. Not that Tzedek association or any other organization owes us anything but what’s going on with all the politicians, all PR guys, if you can’t send down planes make a support line of the millions immigrants that just entered NY and have them guide the citizens what flights to take to get out etc.

Anyone that wants to help us and all other us citizens that were or are still stuck in israel. Can either help with starting a lawsuit against our government or try to get some fund to offset all the expenses and the long term effects this has caused.

For us alone just 6 people in ended up costing us close to $20k

*BREAKING UPDATE: US to Offer Evacuation Assistance for its Citizens in Israel*

In the coming days, the Department of State will be assisting with transportation of US citizens seeking to exit Israel. These options will include air and sea travel. Citizens will be not be transported to the USA. Rather, they will be deposited at various locations, presumably in Europe. They will need to make their own way home from there.

Im guessing Canada will be the same- they will fly them to Europe or something and then you have to book a flight from there.

If AirCanada can take off in TLV for Athens, why can't they operate their flights to Canada? Its absurd.

The US is busy with their efforts stalling Israel’s military with diplomacy, now they announced Blinken will be coming to Israel to meet with Netanyahu, as if he had anything constructive to contribute.
