I once was staying in Neve Yakov for Shabbos but had a Shalom Zachor in Har Nof. That was walking distance (3 hours).

But because theres an eiruv its ok.
Only if you walk away from the city 2000 amos its a problem of the techum.
But if you walk to another place in the city its fine.

At a glance I don't see any way one would walk that I would consider to be a shaylo even with no eruv.

If the houses are spaced out more than 70 amos there could be a problem w/o an eiruv.

It may be, but I didn't check deeply enough to see if it needs to come onto that. My understanding, though, is that in EY, it is not considered controversial at all.

I'll try to link to the particular kuntreisim in a bit but as follows:

Other than the city eruv, the central area to Har nof is a problem... (most people are noheig lehatir, but still a shayla) - Theres a large stretch of buildings along kanfie nesharim that are debatable if they count for extending the tchum.

Neve Ya'akov to the rest of the city... really doesn't connect at all. There is NO continuous chain of houses within 70/140 amos that connects to the central city... (the highways are too wide)

(Though I have heard of people asking shaylos on shabbos in quasi-pikuach nefesh situations and being told that they could walk from NY)

hi, i was looking to rent an apartment in yerushalayim for about 2 weeks in august. starting august 5. one man and my 2 teenage sons no kids... 2 bedrooms . locations geula meah shearim gush shemonim or really any good heimish location for a good price. not very picky but need 2 bedrooms good location and clean.
