@Dan this new jv with emirates sounds rather ambiguous, if I buy emirates from Tlv - dxb and link to my UA flight will I be able to earn mileageplus credits on that flight or only if purchased as one itin?
On UA the EK flight only shows up if searching to EWR not as a standalone. Issue is that its not worth rebooking my flight (upgrade confirmed) and these new rules are rather vague.

Anyone else notice that saver awards on United's own metal USA-Europe went up by 20% in economy (30k to 36k)? Partner awards are still 33k (and only one way if you book RT, so 63k total as opposed to 72k if booking on United metal).

I hate the direction United is going. Also, almost zero availability, even for elites and CC holders, even in economy, even on "dead" routes and dates.

Which routes are you referring to? EWR-LHR, EWR-ZRH and EWR-DUB are all 31.7k in saver.

Which dates? I see EWR-LHR and EWR-ZRH for 36k. See August 15, for example.

united seems to have opened a new south african call center [or hired lot of workers from there] to take over the philipines ones...

they are much harder to give the run around and in typical south african fashion are extremely straight..the positive being is that when they want to do something for you they do it all the way...

Not specifically from United, but Amazon also has some call center staff there, and it is much easier to work with them

If I pay for a regular economy flight with united (not basic economy and fully refundable) is there a way to cancel the day of the flight without getting any fees?

i canceled on the website and got a full refund as a credit, it should say how much you will receive.
another option is to change the flight to a later date

just make sure you dont call to cancel they will charge a cancelation fee
