Weather is nice, look in the CA coast, SFO, and LAX threads for ideas.

Even if you do that next time there are enough HI islands to keep you busy for quite some time.  And you may come back kicking yourself that you didn't do it earlier.

Seems like the drive is a 1-2 day activity, and I'm not interested in being in LA or San Fran for more than a few hours.

Any beautiful parks in southern Florida that anyone can recommend?

I've been reading about them on these types of sites, but it always helps to chat ppl who actually did them.

Sending a couple to Europe in the summer from Sunday to Thursday.
Looking for the best location in terms of kosher food, shuls, easy to get around etc.
Prefer somewhere that is at the most a day trip away from some nice mountains.

I was thinking Zurich or Vienna. Maybe Prague.
Any ideas?

Where to?

I can only speak for Vienna, but I was a big fan. Good mix of culture, kosher food, and a shortish train ride to the Alps.

How short?
Are there numerous kosher restaurants?

That would probably work out great since I believe there's a Hilton there I can burn some points at.

Paris.

This trip is for a pretty frum Chassidish couple. Don't think the guy would enjoy Paris that much. Vienna seems a bit more the type. Even just in terms of being comfortable walking down the street.

Just came back from my second trip to Vienna this December  . Stayed at the Hilton which is great location . Can take the CAT train and walk 200 meters to entrance.
If you  have Hilton Gold status  the Lounge there is wonderful and breakfast snacks etc morning afternoon and night .

Dont know what religious restrictions would be , but anything that you could enjoy being on the 11th floor with  beautiful views of the City is worth it if you can do .

Take the hop off and hop on Bus for 2 day excursion till you get to know the City
including the   Palace outside the City . Kosher restaurants  I cant help but Vienna is a beautiful City, with no run down sections in ringstrasse .

Plus the PH is opening in 2013 in the center of town

I will be going back for third trip next Dec

Hilton Vienna .   At the corner of the  Stadtpark  . Very convenient . Back side is near a bunch of stores markets etc .

If you like walking its a great location. 10 -12 minutes to St Stephens Platz

Tram across the street . Park right in front. Stayed at IC last time @ other end of park. It was isolated . This was much livelier and CAT (City Airport Transfer)  direct from airport for 12 Euros with a short walk like I said .

Do you know where the other Hilton is located?

And does anyone know if this Hilton is located near Shuls and kosher food?

There are 3 Hiltons including the Danube .

The   Plaza is more  centrally located , i believe its near the Opera house or the riding Academy .  But I have heard its a little run down . Go to trip advisor and you can see it on a map .

I am NYC guy, so  I love walking when I visit cites. Obviously if your friends have younger children that can be tough. Hilton Plaza is Centally located but don't remember exactly where.

Vienna not that big a City.  I literally walked from one end to the other and back almost every day and it had light snow on the ground. And if you get tired , you can walk to the tram that goes in a circle around the city and jump on

Chk the Vienna thread for a list of restaurant, along with a summary of what I did. But in total, I was there for around 4 days, and 2 of those were spent going to Salzburg.

I stayed at the Hilton Vienna for a night as well (along w/ the Bristol for 2 nights), and we walked to the Jewish section in around 20 minutes from there. We even found a few kosher jelly's in the lounge, and they have a decent gym and sauna.
As Gold, we were upgraded to a corner suite, or s/t of the sort.

I would choose another city as well (Florence). 4 days in Venice is too much IMO
