So maybe stogel isn't the problem. The airline ordered shelf stable meals. That is unacceptable.

there is a cost to transport frozen meals, to store it, and you will still complain. so just complain on the shelf meals
Maybe is Stogel didn't add fish to every meal it would look better, but I understand the need (some people refrain from meat)

An interesting data point, I flew out from Munich. I received stogel "Shelf-stable food', while another business class passenger received a frozen meal from Amsterdam.

I don't think anyone has done in KSMLs more then I have, and have seen first hand the complexity, and the problems that usually happens from the kitchens.
Yes the airlines need to improve in a lot of ways - in terms of bookings (why 24 hours if its shelf? why remove if I was upgraded?) - and hold the kitchens accountable, etc

But sometimes the choice is limited. I have done a few charters, and there isn't companies that can provide (willing/able) fresh options, and you are stuck with shelf. Hermolis can't export to EU tnx Brexit.

Remember the AF issue last week? can't give details, but lets say what a lack of communication it was, mainly from the Kitchen and the airline didn't know what's flying

Yup, unacceptable. And when SQ tells me they can't provide a decent Suites Class Kosher meal from JFK because there isn't a Kosher Kitchen, that's unacceptable as well

some are at least assembled in-house (gate gourmet) with hashgacha.
Airlines in BOS can get fresh meals on china with 24 hrs notice but it would cost them $30 per meal+ delivery.
They want it under $10. For economy they want under $3.80.
That's less than school meals.
